Final Rogue One Trailer

That looks amazing

In a word: LIKE

So much yes.

Its was official from scenes in Rebels, but its definitive now, Imperial Class Star Destroyers can enter a planet's gravity and atmosphere.

Flashback Scene

As far as I can tell, Director Krennic, has the rank badge of a Colonel, which corresponds to a Deputy Director in the Imperial Security Bureau, or The Commission for the Preservation of the New Order (COMPNOR), when he takes Galen Erso from Jyn's home.

Hope is now raised that his movie is all that the force awakens was not. Just hope there is a directors cut.....

Can. Not. Wait.

Looks amazing :D

Squee/10

Dang it. And I'm stuck at work and won't be home to tune in for another 9 hours...

What? No smartdevice? How much are you getting paid working back there in 2005?

Believe it or not, I only just got a cell phone two months ago. Haven't had one in over a decade before that. Still running low bandwidth though so clicking those new fancy fangled moving pictures hurts the wallet.

Yes, I'm used to all the jokes.

I'm still using a flip phone. You are not alone.

On higher resolution it seems he has six red pips, and six blue pips, marking him as a Director even in the flashback.

All indications are the space battle in the trailer is the "first victory against the evil Galactic Empire" mentioned in the Star Wars opening crawl.

Looks like you can see Dodonna (maybe?) around 1:24. as well as a Mon Cal onlooker. Curious!

I'm still quite fearful of that:

<<
We put the film again in postproduction and assembling, because the directors version seems to be too dark, violent and not enought "familiar" for the the producers.
>>

That has me worried. The movie was probably awesome...now toned down. I have my hope we finally get a good Star Wars movie like Empire Strikes Back. The trailer looks awesome and makes me wish is was December already.

Feel good feelings....

Getting Force-choked up on these R1 trailers. :)

I think the scrawl is referring to the stealing of the plans more so than an actual victory. Basically everything other than stealing and the Tantive escaping (briefly) went pretty poorly for the rebels. If the fleet battle ends up being a victory it would at best be Pyrrhic.

When the first SW+Disney film, I was afraid to see lightsabers singing. But the film, with all its flaws, was one I really enjoyed. It made me recover the feelings and emotions of the classic movies (the ones I had lost with the prequels).
So, even with some fear, I'm perfectly able to give them the benefit of the doubt for this new movie.

Not necessarily, although at first sight it may seem that due to the tremendous imbalance in the volume of forces, a naval confrontation between Rebels and Empire could be, at best, a Pyrrhic victory for the former.
However, a rebellion against such a huge empire, needs inexorably from a high popular support to have minimal chance of success. And to do it is not enough a cruel and mean Empire, the people must be able to see the rebellion with at least any chance of victory.
So, a clear naval victory, even if a taxative one, could be of a unmeasurable valor for the rebel cause.

True though I think (would prefer) this will be a loss. The rebel fleet holds out long enough to beam the plans to the Tantive and once that's done they either flee or get destroyed. Vader proceed's to pursue with the Devastator, queue transition to ANH.

Historically, what have the non- A-list Rebels ever done but die to accomplish something? With a few exceptions like Wedge, the Rebel attrition rate is very high historically. I expect the same here.

I agree, a raid where they covered the retreat of the commandos bearing the Death Star plans would be a victory with almost no regard to Rebel losses.

A-list rebels tend to take care of enough Imperials during their actions that the fodder dying doesn't matter.

Thing is, the tone in all the trailers has been pretty consistent. If they were worried about it being too dark, you'd think we'd have seen a noticeable difference in how the trailers presented the film.

The crawl does go on to say that the plans were stolen during the battle. Which makes it seem like they are two separate events.

Why is it not in 4K??

I was kind of doing a check-list when I watched the trailer of "Yer gonna die" and "Yer gonna make it" running through my head...
