ARC - 170 "Alliance Overhaul"

By Gottmituns205, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

Sooooooooooooo now that I've moved and got semi-settled in Ohio I decided to start playing more and picked up playing the Rebels more. Well I was inspired by FFG releasing the ARC-170 I started eyeing these boys up in the bag-o-things-to-paint. After using ALOT of Rebel squadrons...I figured I could do these as a great proxy for B-wings (slow-er and hard hitting).

Whatcha think? I've got two more to do, and they will be my B-wing ace.

Mel's Miniatures did a great job...they are time consuming to paint but totally worth it for a great rare proxy for an ace. I can't wait to finish the other two.

Niiiiice mate, very nice (and great to see some more of your work again, eh! So welcome back all right and proper!).

On a purely technical level, seriously well done. Mel makes some bloody nice stuff and the fighter side of things are usually a treat, but the ARC 170's look like a real challenge, one you hit out of the park! Minor question, how are the gaps for the S-foils?

It depends what your view on these are. They hit hard but are probably more of a bomber, so while they could work fine for B-wings, I'd say they could also work as H6 replacement squadrons due to their speed as well (I was, and am, seriously considering some K-wings as H6's. Shave the crazy chin goatee off them and add in a more real colour and they're even cool). Still, with the CCCP coming out, you can have a pool of 3 potential choices for B-wing aces. It depends on how you want to portray the refits: I thought the ARC170's were undergunned in X-wing terms?

Cool deal. Wish I had time to devote to some side projects like this.

Where in ohio are you?

Excellent stuff!

FWIW, Shipyards did a card for the ARC:

I'm in Columbus now. I game at the guard tower every monday at 6pm.

I got the other two (mostly) finished...I went with the republic colors with slight modifications to show they came from different squadrons/places. I'm putting them up tomorrow night when they are dried.

I got lazy...and didn't put these up....I'm sorry.

YET! I did use them for a game the other night as B-wings and they did fantastic!

(hope you find a larger fighter base! :P )

are you saying that the B-wing is NOT an bomber? it's a better bomber than the TIE BOMBER!

"Assault starfighter" ain't no bomber. Wot, u Mad? :P Couldn't help it.
