Hey guys was wondering if someone would be willing to help me make an unoffical sourcebook

By berserkwerewolf, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

So I have an idea for a Clone Trooper unofficial sourcebook that would include armor, weapons, clones as a PC race and NPC templates

the book would include templates for

- Clone troopers

- Clone Commandos

- ARC Troopers

- Clone Commanders (ARC, Regular, and Commandos)

- and any other trooper the community would like to contribute.

Hopefully this is a thing I can post on here.

It's a cool idea, how do you envision the PC options being different to the Soldier career? Or is this mostly NPC's with just a particular Clone Species option.

Mostly NPCs with a Clone Species option, but maybe adding some kind of squad based talent? basically soldier, I hadn't thought of using types as specializations but that's a good idea

You could create a "Clone" career. Only use duplicate specialisations, but choose from amongst the AoR options.

An interesting mix would be:

Driver, Pilot, Heavy, Medic, Scout, Tactician.

It's a bit optimised as far as choosing a lot of specs that have synergies, but it may work. Choosing career Skills will be the hard part.

Clone:

2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2

10WT, 10 ST

1 rank of Discipline, may be raised to 3 during character creation.

Not sure about it, but Discipline seems the right skill

I always saw Fett Clones as an all 2 race with 10 Wound, 11 Strain and a rank in either Ranged (Light) or Ranged (Heavy), but that's just me.

I like the idea concerning the creation of a composite career. What sort of base skills do you think should be included?

Perhaps Trooper: Athletics, Discipline, Education (Warfare), Perception, Ranged (Heavy), and Ranged (Light)?

this is really close to what I was thinking, but the skill point I was thinking Discipline or one Non-Lightsaber combat skill or maybe even Edu: Warfare

I had 3,2,2,2,2,1

I was thinking Clone Commanders would get a 1 ranktalent called Born to Lead +1 Presence, and a bonus die on leadership checks for like 10 or 15 pts

That's true.

How about Ranged Heavy, basically every Clone has a rifle.

Otherwise my other idea was:

3,3,2,2,1,2

10WT 11ST

1 rank of Discipline and Ranged Heavy

85xp

I don't know, I'm a bit torn.

Everything looks good to me but the point decrease in Willpower. Perhaps create a species variant:

Foot Soldier: 3,3,2,2,2,1 10 W, 11 S, 1 Discipline, 1 Ranged (Heavy), 85 XP

Commander: 2,3,2,2,2,2 10 W, 11 S, 1 Discipline, 1 Leadership, 85 XP

The reason I went low Will is because they are supposed to be easy to indoctrinate, easy to train.

You've got a good point there. Perhaps the 3,3,2,2,1,2 for foot soldier and 2,3,2,2,1,3 for Commander?

We could give higher Brawn to Commandos, higher Presance to Commanders and for basic troopers 2s across with higher start XP?

Commando
3,3,2,2,1,2
+2 encumbrance threshold and 1 rank in ranged heavy
85 SXP

Commander
2,3,2,2,1,3
+ 1 rank in leadership and ranged heavy
85 SXP

Trooper
2,2,2,2,2,2
+1 rank in ranged heavy and Discipline
100 SXP

Commando

3,3,2,2,1,2

+2 encumbrance threshold and 1 rank in ranged heavy

85 SXP

Commander

2,3,2,2,1,3

+ 1 rank in leadership and ranged heavy

85 SXP

Trooper

2,2,2,2,2,2

+1 rank in ranged heavy and Discipline

100 SXP

I'd say make the Trooper 2,3,2,2,1,2 due to what Rich said earlier regarding their ease of training and give them 110 SXP due to the lose of an extra Characteristic like the other 2.

Also, I'd think for balancing issues maybe Commando should have 75 SXP instead?

All three would be safe with 10 Wound and 11 Strain in my opinion.

I had always considered that Clones where Clones because they where the same, and their training was what made them different. I hadn't considered that being Clones allowed them to have tailored characteristics based on their purpose.

The idea of additional Encumbrance Threshold is great.

There are a lot of solid ideas here.

Commandos are actually genetically modified to be stronger and smarter, and their training is live fire from the start, a of them never live to wear armor but it makes the others learn faster.

I wouldn't mind seeing a generic clone species, but if you're considering variations based on selective genetic modification, then you should just stick to standard human, and let your characteristic purchases reflect the genetic modification.

Don't forget some clones tattoo and some others dye their hair like Rex is blond and fives has his 5

I'm up to helping with this.

I'd think that, in this case, you might be best served playing a bit with talent trees.

Specifically, there's the Soldier Talent Tree, which is a universal talent tree.

What if there were a Clone Talent Tree that opened up 3 other talent trees. Commando, Operator, Support.

Commando would be for running the big guns, being Rambo on the field of battle.

Operator would be for vehicles and some amount of maintenance.

Support would be the medic class with some branching into 'recon' based intellect skills. Perhaps two halves of the tree, that one.

I honestly wouldn't do species stats for Clones but if one were so inclined I would just wait till Friends Like These came out and just use the Mandolorian stats since they are all Mando clones anyway.

so what about gear and specializations?

AOR has plenty of Clone War era guns especially Forged in Battle they have heavy guns like the Z-6 Minigun and others.
