Have you run out of storage room yet?

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

So I used to keep all my ships assembled in these Tupperware type containers, because I like the setup time of simply pulling them out of the box, and placing them on the table, ready to go, with zero assembly required. But I just keep buying more ships and I ran out of room. So I decided to just put all my ships on the shelf for now, and I'll just package up what I plan to fly, before going to an FLGS or tournament. No need to bring everything anymore.

What about you guys? Are you running out of storage room yet? What are you gonna do when wave 5 hits?

Yes. It's a problem. You can either store optimizing for space, or for setup/takedown time, but not both it seems.

Buying a bigger house with a dedicated spaceport seems to me the only logical solution

(seriously, I've ships everywhere)

It's now only a matter of time before I do this exact same thing with X-Wing - but I'll need to buy another book case before I have enough room for all that

My wife was recently chiding me that I have a stand up tool box on wheels solely for the transport of plastic spaceships- I think if I let them spill into the house like this she would do a lot more than chide me however.

That said, I still 3 custom made foam layers of said toolbox untouched and ready and waiting for new plastic spaceship goodness.

I have a Cardboard Box.

When the box gets too full, I get a bigger Cardboard Box.

You may think that is odd, given that I am a professional painter now, and all... But really, its a simple fact.

* I have no more foam, as I have given it all away protecting other peoples things...

* I am never satisfied with my own paint jobs, and are constantly redoing them - so chips and buffs are no big deal.

* When I am finally satisfied, they get coated with a matt sealant, and that keeps the paint in place, even when they do bump up against each other...

* I have to take public transit 2+ hours each way just to get a game in, and try not to pre-plan to play only one thing, AND have to provide for any pick-up players who want to try it out, so I have to take the whole collection - Only a Sturdy Cardboard Box is useful for me right now... Nothing else is really tolerated on Bus Transit...

I have storage at home sorted out, traveling with more than a single fleet is untenable with the situation for the single fleet not being particularly ideal. I keep balking at dropping the coin on pluck foam and a proper bag but will have to pull the trigger soon.

I too have opted for the shelf method. Two 3ft shelves for Armada and one so far for Imperial assault, but the Armada stuff will be spilling over to a third shelf with wave 5....

Another bonus with the shelf method, is that you get to have all your stuff on display! So it's a game AND it's decorations! Come to think of it, I think I'm gonna set up my X-Wing stuff sooner rather than later.

Tell her the only other solution was a 1:1 Gozanti cruiser parked on your roof... *whistle*

(you have my empathy tho. I'm kinda blessed, my husband never complains about my fabrics being everywhere, and I never complain about spaceships being in places where no other man has gone before. If we have to live without living our passions at fullest....)

I'm literally reverting back into a 14 year old again as we speak.

My wife would disagree with this statement.

I'm thinking about just moving all my stuff into the basement where I have a workshop anyway.

[Emphasis added]

I have exactly enough room for waive five.... Then I'm in trouble

Talk about a trench run!

If I could find a 1:1 this might end up happening anyway.

I think the association might object, they are currently forcing my neighbor to repaint his house he just painted red because evidently it was against community standards. I feel like they might begrudge a spaceship.

I have a large tool box for the models and stands. Cards in a binder. Tokens and assorted bits in a divider. Still have space for next wave!

I can cram all my imperial stuff in one Plano tacklebox but I recently had to buy another one for the rebels.

Who puts their spaceships in the kitchen?!

Hey, I feel like Trump would be proud of the lows I stopped to there.

My bright hope is currently drying from being painted in the kitchen :D

I think I'm good through 6. I've got room to add one more shelf to my toolbox for ships, and my squadron box is near capacity.

My X Wing storage...that's in dire trouble now for Imperials and probably by wave 10 for Rebels.

I like to leave it prominently on display, though the collection is starting to overflow everything.

The display case you can get at Amazon or IKEA and is totally worth it.

HOA's are worse than the Empire. Completely of the Devil.

I have my garage all to myself, so storage space is not an issue. Transport to the store, however....I have a tool box I repurposed for this, and the extras sit on the shelf at home.

My tackle box is full and i only a small Armada collection right now :(
