Broken peg on Neb-B

By Sybreed, in Star Wars: Armada

Hey guys, I broke the peg on the Neb B by removing it from the base. I tried gluing it, but it's not being solid enough and breaks immediately when I put it back. I tried both superglue and miniatures glue... I'm starting to feel like I put too much glue and got past the no return point.

Any tricks to glue that back, or do I just order another neb?

Just use a Raider or Corvette stand. Unlikely you will run all of them at the same time.

Too bad that no third party enterprises make replacement pegs. I bet there would be a high demand on them.

Glue needs something to stick to. Have you tried sanding the attachment point to roughen the surface, to give the glue an anchor

Use high grit sandpaper wrapped around a screwdriver or something.

If you have a hobby drill you can make a new peg.

nah, I mean the little peg that plugs the Neb-B on the stand, that's what broke. These things are a bit fragile

Oh.... I broke 3 stand already so that's what I thought :P I'd just glue it directly to the stand then. Super glue has worked for me, just have to be careful when trasnporting to a tourny because you can get disqualified for broken stuff like that. When in doubt, get another. You'll get XI7 so that's always worth the price.

Have you done this mod? I've seen it for X-Wing but not Armada.

Once it breaks it is going to always be a problem. I have fixed this 2 different ways-

1. Get a decent gauge paperclip. Find a drill bit that is the same diameter (on the flat end) as the paperclip. Drill a hold in the Neb where the peg used to be. Be careful not to go too deep, just enough to stick the clip. Straighten Paperclip and insert on end into Neb with superglue. Let it dry and cut to length. I have a box of paperclips that I have used to do this that fit snugly into the acrylic bases and this works like a charm.

2. After I got tired of paperclips, I went to method 2. I bought a bag of 500 rare earth magnets that have approximately the same diamater as the base peg. I drill a recess in the ship so the magnet fits just about flush, then sand down the acrylic stand the width of the magnet and fix it to the top. Now it holds tight enough for play, but comes off easily with no breakage.

I only have a phone camera, but I actually have a neb that is sitting on my workbench waiting to be fixed in this manner so if I get time I will post a how to. It's pretty easy, with the correct sized material. Either a finger drill or a dremmel work and it doesn't take that much time.

Rare earth magnets are both strong and work perfectly. At the average (good) hobby store you should be able to find small round magnets about the side of the post. I've done this for several of my ships where the post has broken. I seem to recall they were check your 6 planes.

I love supporting local hobby shops and mini-centered flgs, but at this scale I have not found a brick and mortar that sells magnets suitable for Armada at anything but an exorbitant price.

My local shop sells a box of 15 of the magnets for $4.99, while I got a bag of 500 on ebay for less than that.

oh well, after reading some of the posts I decided to buy another one. I'll be more careful in the future!

Contact FFG, their support is fantastic and they're very likely to send you replacement with no questions asked.

beat me to it

had a VSD base that would not stay on, told them and they sent me a new base.

not sure about non-defects but give it a try

Did this to my friends neb while painting it. Oops! I used super glue and it broke the first time, but second time it held, now we're just careful not to fidget with it. Also, glue the peg back onto the ship, let that dry for a day, then stick it back on the stand and glue the ship and the stand for extra measure. Good luck

10 or 12 gage copper wire worked on Mt CR90 that snapped its peg. Drilled in, glued it, then clipped it off at the correct length & filed the front flat.

I have never tried a Neb B, but as long as it is thick enough to drill in, it should work. Much stronger than the original too.

drill the old pin place on the ship out and replace the pin with a 2mm carbon fiber rod,

most of my pined ships have been repined with carbon fiber.

Quick update: I emailed Asmodee and they agreed to send in a new ship! Very nice of them. I already bought a new one, but having 3 just open new possibilities.

Wow really? I have one that broke too.... Is it just the model or an entire package?

I haven't received it yet, but I'm assuming it's just the model. I got the e-mail today saying I would get it. I said I basically messed up when I pulled out the neb off its stand and the peg broke. I also had a picture showing what was broken so I guess that also helped.
