By Mr Slippery, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Any thoughts on this list:

Quickdraw (29) Tie/SF:

- Crack Shot (1)

- FCS (2)

- Special Ops Title (0)

TOTAL 32pts

Rexler Brath (37) Tie Defender:

- Ruthlessness (3)

- Tractor Beam (1)

- Tie/D Title (0)

- Twin Ion Engine MKII (1)

TOTAL 42pts

Omega Leader (21) Tie/FO:

- Juke (2)

- Comm Relay (3)

TOTAL 26pts

Build total 100pts

I'm possibly trying too hard to make Quickdraw work with the use of Ruthlessness, but it has a lot of potential damage output. Difficult choice on which ship to take down first, and likely that OL might get left to end game. Not sure it would survive well against scouts.

Ruthlessness and the /D title is a solid combo, though I'm not sure I'd ever want to try and make IT how you're getting Quickdraw to trigger.

The real problem is that Rex will die first, and relatively quickly - OL is too slippery to hit, most times, and Quickdraw is more annoying than actually lethal, so the double-shooting, relatively easy-target Defender is going to get burned every time, and pretty quickly.

I don' think so. Quickdraw is actually easier to kill than Rex, and his ability is 'scary' so a lot of people will target him first.

Having said that, I am not a fan of Ruthlessness on Rex. He really wants predator more than anything (Vessery can use Ruthlessness more effectively). The list isn't bad though, but its going to have some difficult fights...

I've run TIE/Ds with some frequency, and I need a really, really good reason not to take Predator. The main problem here is that your Tractor Beam isn't doing much. It fires after Quickdraw, and Omega Leader doesn't really need it, so it's only really buffing Rex's primary shot.

I would drop to Maarek with Ion Cannon and Predator for 41, 42 if you keep Mk2 Engines.

Maybe this:

Quickdraw (Adaptability[+1], Fire-Control System, Sensor Cluster, Special Ops Training title)

Omega Leader (Juke, Comm Relay)

Rexler (Predator, TIE/x7 title, Hull)

100 points

Yes, that's a 41-point Rexler but I've run this version of him several times and he is a beast.

Wouldn't Stealth Device be better than the Hull on Rexler for the same cost? It would potentially cancel more than the one additional hit you can absorb from the hull upgrade.

Of course, yeah, potentially. I've had some success with Stealth Device on Soontir and Omega Leader, that's it. Even then, Palpatine needed to be there on a few occasions...

A lot of people think that, but its not necessarily true. It can also stop exactly nothing depending on dice. The only way to know if your stealth device is actually helping is to roll 1 green die separately from the rest.

I've been running a very similar squad lately to good effect. The main difference is the Quickdraw build. I don't think x7 Rex really needs any defensive upgrades unless you're just looking to use him as a point fortress.

Quickdraw, PTL, Electronic Baffles, Mk2 Engines =34

Standard Omega Leader = 26

Rexler Brath, Predator, x7, Mk2 Engines = 39

99 points

Each one is a bad target in their own way and can do bad things to you in the end game.

Of course it is still possible to have your green dice crap out on you even with an extra one but I still think it is a better option especially when coupled with an auto evade token from going fast and your focus from action.

It's not much of an issue now, but Hull Upgrade was nice to have when Wampa was more popular. You pretty much could ignore him for a while when you had 4 hull.

Generally, though, because of stuff like Autoblaster Ghosts, Party Busses, and Torp Scouts, Hull is nicer.

Haven't seen any Autoblaster Ghosts in my area but that makes since also no one does much with Scouts or the bus either, one guy had a bus and two scouts at our last tournament but he was just about the only scum player there. We actually have more guys that will build their own stuff more than they use any net / meta lists.

That ghost autoblaster is no joke for low hull aces. Especially with a docked shuttle and Biggs around. Adding extra hull may not be bad. But I always forget they can shoot that blasted 4 dice main out the back with the shuttle in there.
