Jonus and the Whales (fun list)

Before I even start, Cpt. Jonus' ability applies to canons, correct?

DOA or enough punch to matter:

Captain Jonus (22)

- Extra Munitions (2)

- Homing Missiles (5)

- Guidance Chips (0)

Total: 29 points

Omicron Group Pilot (21)

- Heavy Laser Canon (7)

- Gunner (5)

- Fleet Officer (3)

Total: 36 points

- Heavy Laser Canon (7)

- Gunner (5)

- Systems Officer (2)

Total: 35 points

I'd kick the crew out of Omis and add FCS, so when gunner triggers, you have a TL.

Edit that's probably why you have Jonus though, amirite?

I thought about this... Brings the build down to 99 points - which lets me put Dead-Eye on Cpt. J?

I *want* the other bomber pilots to be awesome, but I just can't get past the utility of the GSV's at their price point, with an EPT and that dead middle PS.

I've been running a pair of gamma squad vets with adaptability, LRS, Homing Missiles, Seismics (or thermals, can't remember) and extra munitions with Vessery/D (Tractor). It's super effective. Vessery can usually land his tractor to -1 the enemy agility, then hits them once w/ his weapon. GSV's follow up that turn with a homing missile each, 4 dice, already -1 agility, can't spend evade tokens, and I have a focus and a TL on each for max dice mod. Pretty much guaranteed a mix of 4 hits and crits for each GSV, and the target doesn't get a range bonus, so usually its a 1-2 green dice defense, if not a zero green die defense. It's been pretty **** effective out of the gate. I can effectively remove at least one jumpmaster from the board before it ever fires. If I set it up right, I get to scrub a second one before it fires too. If not, I charge through leaving TD's in my wake while Vessery melts face and the GSV's reacquire locks and K-Turn back into the fight.

So I guess I Said all that to say that anything with Homing Missiles doesn't want GC's, it wants LRS. LRS gives you a TL and a focus to mod the HM roll with, since HM doesn't require that you spend the TL.

(and yes, Jonus is secondary weapons, which includes cannons, turret weapons, etc)

Maybe consider this?

PILOTS

Glaive Squadron Pilot (35) x 2
TIE Defender (34), Tractor beam (1), Adaptability (0), TIE/D (0)

Captain Jonus (29)
TIE Bomber (22), Extra Munitions (2), Homing Missiles (5), Adaptability (0), Long Range Scanners (0)

All are running at PS7. Jonus gives rerolls on blanks for TB. TB followed up with a 3-4 dice shot from each defender, then once the target AGI is -2, Jonus finishes it off with a homing missile?

You're a mad scientist...

I absolutely love this idea! I'm going to try the following:

TIE Bomber: •Captain Jonus (29)

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

TIE Shuttle (0)

Wired (1)

Systems Officer (2)

Fleet Officer (3)

Lambda-Class Shuttle: Omicron Group Pilot (36)

Tactical Jammers (1)

Fire Control System (2)

"Mangler" Cannon (4)

Gunner (5)

•Mara Jade (3)

Lambda-Class Shuttle: Omicron Group Pilot (35)

Tactical Jammers (1)

Fire Control System (2)

"Mangler" Cannon (4)

Gunner (5)

Tactician (2)

Total: 100/100

Theory is, Jonus gives target locks and focus to the Omnicron Pilots with FO & SO while playing offense or defense with Wired. Twin Ion Engine Mk II allows 9 possible green maneuvers to shed stress with.

Downgrading to the Mangler Cannon frees enough points for Mara Jade and Tactician to hand out stress. And we all know how Gunner and FCS synergies with each other.

Not competitive by any stretch of the imagination, but what the hell... looks like a tonne of fun.

^ now you've just got too many target locks going. If the goal is to gunner with a fresh TL from FCS, then you don't really want your first attack to hit. Unless you're planning on rerolling hits and keeping blanks.
