Newcomer's lists for your feedback thanks !

By Aginorh, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi guys,

I have just started the game and I find it extremely captivating.

I only played with friends but intend to play at the local store to have more occasions.

My current fleet is as follows quite limited especially on Rebels side :

  • Core set Force Awakens
  • Inquisitor’s Tie
  • Tie Defender
  • VT49 Decimator
  • Tie Phantom
  • B-Wing
  • E-Wing
  • Falcon

I was wondering if

  1. I could have a feedback from you on what can be improved on my lists (see below please note the limited fleet).
  2. Any suggestion on the best next purchase (1 or 2 ships) for Rebels (as I want to have 2 factions to play with newcomers who don’t have any investment in the game) and Empire (1 ship)

Lists

Imp list - 4 ships

  • Whisper, Improved cloaking device, Veteran instincts (37 pts)
  • The Inquisitor, TIE/V1 (26 pts)
  • Omega Ace, wired (21 pts)
  • Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15 pts)

Total 99 pts

Imp list – Decimator

  • Commander Kenkrik, Ysanne Isard (48 pts)
  • Whisper, Stygium Particle Accelerator, Veteran Instincts (35 pts)
  • Sienar test pilot (Tie Adv. Prototype), TIE/V1 (17 pts)

Total 100 pts

Rebel list – Falcon

  • Chewbacca (42 pts)
  • Poe Dameron (31 pts)
  • B-wing Dagger squadron pilot, Ion cannon (27 pts)

Total 100 pts

Rebel list – 3 ships

Does it make any sense to line up a T-70, B-wing and E-wing ???

Thanks a lot for your feedback and suggestions !

Cheers.

Your Rebels need a lot of cards you simply do not have. If you're playing casually, don't be too proud to proxy. For Poe you want R5-P9 with Veteran Instincts or BB-8 with Push the Limit + Autothrusters on either build.. On Corran you can do well with R2-D2, Push the Limit, Engine Upgrade and Fire Control System. Both those ships will cost too much for a third ship, so fill their other upgrades with whatever suits you.

Your Imperials aren't bad. Proxy Emperor Palpatine for a good Decimator/Whisper Palp Aces list. Any time you fly Whisper, use Advanced Cloaking Device and don't build a full 100 points. You want an initiative bid so Whisper can shoot first then cloak. If you want to play competitively, you'll have to buy some things. The First Order TIE is a great start for Empire. Omega Leader comes out of the expansion with the upgrades needed to be useful. Great value for money. K-wing is a good expansion to strengthen your Rebels.

Thanks a lot. I'll proxy indeed if people are fine with it.

Noted on the Tie FO and K wing expansion .

Any view on my 4 ships list for real casual play ?

Did anyone try something like this ?

Thanks.

Hi again,

I was wondering if you guys could give me your feedback on this list (B E X wings with cards proxy) :

Corran Horn (39) - E-Wing

BB-8 (2), Fire Control System (2)

Dagger Squadron Pilot (32) - B-Wing

Fire Control System (2), B-Wing/E2 (1), Gunner (5)

Biggs Darklighter (29) - X-Wing (proxy from T-70 as I don't have the original core set only FO core set)

R2-D2 (4)

Total 100 pts

opposed to a VT-49 + Whisper build or

this one :

  • Whisper, Improved cloaking device, Veteran instincts (37 pts)
  • The Inquisitor, TIE/V1 (26 pts)
  • Omega Ace, wired (21 pts)
  • Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15 pts)

I would like to use this rebel list for playing with friends who did not invest (yet !) without being annihilated by my own stronger Imp fleet ;)

I have been looking a lot at cards available on the Aurora squadron build but not sure this is ideaI, or if I should just stick to using Falcon + Poe , or Poe T-70 + E-wing combo (I am kind of struggling to see how 2 ships without Falcon can be competitive assuming low level of player skill)

Thanks a lot !

Well, both lists are sub-optimal.

What I'd do is change your imperial list up.

If you wanna play the phantom, a good starting place is the hated buzzaw-whisper:

Whisper: Veteran instincts, Advanced Cloaking Device, Gunner, Fire control system (44 pts). I think you have all the cards for this one. Take the evade action, fire - if you miss, fire again with gunner and target lock from FCS. Get focus and cloak. You then have 4 dice with focus and evade for defense.

If you wanna play the inquisitor, there is no substitue for the following build:

Inquisitors Tie: Push the limit (proxy), Title and authothrusters (proxy) (31 pts). You can add on proton rockets if points allow for a 5 red fice range 1 shot (34). 3 actions pretty much every turn. Great at range 3 and at arc dodging.

You could use both of the above (78 pts) and proxy Zeta leader: Wired. (21 pts).

Take initiative if your opponent has a PS 9 ship, give it away if opponent has a PS 8 ship. Bring large rocks.

Best of luck!

Thanks Sounds good I might try this (want to buy omega leader anyway)

3 ships (100)

"Whisper" (39) - TIE Phantom

Veteran Instincts (1), Fire Control System (2), Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Onyx Squadron Pilot (35) - TIE Defender

TIE/D (0), Ion Cannon (3)

"Omega Leader" (26) - TIE/FO Fighter

Juke (2), Comm Relay (3)
