Any Value to Old Cards?

By RemX2, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

So I haven't played in several years. I've got tons of cards starting from Westeros through at least 5 sets after. I've got the original house stones for all the major houses and some of the original tokens.

Is there any value there? Do people use the old cards at all?

Depends on your area. Although FFG only recognizes the old cards for their Legacy format (I think that's what it is called), some areas still play with the old cards. Also, there are some older cards from the sets you have that have been reprinted in the current LCG format. If nothing else, the House Cards are still uber-cool, and I'm sure you can find groups that will let you use the cards. Hopefully there is one in your area.

Translation: Predominantly, no.

Ouch. I hate to throw all this stuff out.

Hi ktom. I remember you from back in the day. I use to run Liklak if you remember that site.

I can offer you something for it, or to trade you some newer stuff and LCG stuff for some of it. I've been gathering the older cards, mostly just 'cuz. If that's something you'd be interested in just me an email: RyanJMiller1-AT-gmail.com

They are excellent for Cube Drafts.

Rings did one of these in Seattle and we were debating doing this in the Bay Area Meta sometime.

Basically draft packs are created with all the favorite cards from every set printed and a draft format is followed.

This was tremendously fun and certainly was great to play old cards again. Someone like rings or Cha0s could explain the exact rules.

I'm in the same boat as you, but I was thinking of using my old cards to construct a deck for the one-deck variant from Princes. That way I don't cannibalize my LCG cards, I have a use for my old cards, and my friends can play without me having to tune decks for them.

**** Chris - I miss you! Dark Tower was one of the great venues in teh tri state area to play at. How is the family?

The NY meta has grwon quite a bit and we are meeting regularly. If you are interested in ever getting together for a game - you should definitely let us know. Its pretty easy and inexpensive (comparatively) to get back in - I'm sure we cna easily get you hooked up wiht new cards.

Hey Chris! Good to hear from you too. And you're still playing, very impressive.

For the record, Dark Tower is on an upswing, although I'm not sure how much CCG-ing there is. The old aGoT tourneys were great though! Too bad old George RR doesn't get his butt in gear and finish a freakin' book. It just might reinvigorate this game and all the rest of his franchised crap.

I miss that store - it was a great venue and we had some memorable events there.

The NY meta is doing better than it has in years - probably since the first year of the game. letsgored is organizing most of the NYC events and we ahve a solid group of 6-7 NYC players plus another 6-7 out here on LI where I run most of the tournaments. Plus we have linked up with the more casual Brooklyn playgroup with another ten or so players who mostly prfer multi player since they are msotly board gamers. If we ever got teh NJ meta cranking again we could field some pretty impressive weekend events - just with lcoals.

Keep in touch and let us knwo what's goign on. If you hear anything about the scene in Jersey - let us knwo and I'm sure a few of the NY locals will swing out to add to your numbers at events.
