How are Fang Fighters?

I was looking for a list that used Fang Fighters with the ShadowCaster. The only bad thing is I only have 1 Fang Fighter. I might be able to throw in a Kihraxz Fighter or TLT Y-wing instead. What was your list, if you don't mind my asking?

My list is bulit for control yours is for damage output. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I'll have to fly your version sometime. Looks fun.

You've got me thinking about this Manaroo and IG-88 pairing now. Two evades and a Target Lock/Focus for a PS8 88C is worth a look. I might even start calling it "Igaroo" just to annoy a few people...

Nathan Eide (Runner up Worlds 2015) is toying with IG88c+Manaroo list now.

You can search YouTube for some maches. I believe it's Hangar 19 Channel or something (can't recall now). Seems very powerful.

You've got me thinking about this Manaroo and IG-88 pairing now. Two evades and a Target Lock/Focus for a PS8 88C is worth a look. I might even start calling it "Igaroo" just to annoy a few people...

personally I like IG88c + juke engine tlt palob w ig88d ... its not amazing, but juke tlt on a fast hwk is pretty awesome.

I've been playing AML a lot lately and the only trouble is sharing the stress on red turns, and with these guys, you may need to make them to keep close.

I've played with Aggressor and Palob linked with a Fearless (unlinked) Fenn with decent results. Don't encumber Fenn's movements (need a red turn to keep in arc) and also the extra dice.

If you're looking for a Mindlink squad, Might I suggest Kad Solus rather than Old Teroch? With an Attani Mindlink squad, the lowest PS pilot is often designated focus battery, which Kad can do even if he has to pull the odd hard turn. Plus, that saves you the point you need to arm Fenn Rau with those "dear god what the hell just hit me" advanced protons.

I'm with Fickle.

But I love the Fangs so far. I tried PtL on Fenn Rau, didn't care for it that much. Manaroo is just as good, Fenn wants/needs a focus or two anyway Manaroo can give it to him and most of the time you only need one action to get to range 1. I give Manaroo K4 so she can pass him Focus and TL for heavy duty dice mods.

They do blow up fast sometimes, but going from three hull to four hull is a pretty big jump, especially when you have three agility. I used to run VI Carnor Jax with autothrusters and hull upgrade so picking up the Fangs hasn't been overly difficult for me since they have similar dials and survivability.

Manaroo isn't "just as good" as PTL, because she doesn't let him double reposition to avoid getting shot at in the first place. I've been running PTL fenn WITH manaroo, so he can either double reposition and still get 2 focus tokens, or single reposition into range 1 and TL, then get focus from her to nuke the target, or if he doesn't need to reposition, just TL and take free focuses and not have to stress yourself.

Late to answer this one. I don't disagree with you. I first tried Fenn Rau with PtL in lists with out Manaroo and I found that I always wanted either a Focus or a Target Lock and my second action was to Boost or Barrel Roll for positioning. Manaroo solves that problem until she dies.

The last change I made was giving both of them Mindlink and Manaroo Plasma Torps with Chips on the side. This has worked out really well for me, YMMV. Not only does Manaroo support Fenn but she gets assigned a Focus back when she gives it away making her offense/defense just a little bit better and helping her contribute more to a fight. This also frees up Fenn Rau's dial, he can do any maneuver he wants including reds. Manaroo moves before him and takes Focus for the both of them, he is free to k-turn or t-roll if it is advantageous, he already has one Focus and Manaroo can pass him more tokens if applicable.

So for me, flying PtL without Manaroo I was mostly Focus + X, so in that case a support Manaroo does the same job and frees up Fenn's EPT slot. PtL is undeniably better for arc dodging, but that isn't how I've been flying him.

The shared stress is kind of a pain but you deal with it by thinking about where everyone needs to be on the next round. If you want to do a red maneuver with TBC or Fenn, let the one who is doing it go first and the other guy have a green dialed in to clear the stress and get an action or if a green wont work have him do his white maneuver before the other guy doing the red.

The action economy of Mindlink is mind blowing once you get the hang of managing the maneuvers. I love that it doesn't restrict your dial to greens like PtL as well.

I don't know about APT because setting up target lock and focus is tricky enough. (Plus it's kinda cheesy--isn't five red die with a Fearlessness sixth enough?) I like the idea of maybe throwing in Kad Solus and using Mindlinks to my aces (Talonbane and Fenn) but having all three ships at 9PS is sweet.

I'm not sold on APTs on anybody, but I've also been practicing for tournaments exclusively until regionals are over. At six points they are just too expensive. It is a great range one shot if you have Target Lock and Focus and Fenn makes a good platform for them, but for six points I can do some major upgrades to a squad. There is a serious risk that Fenn will go down in flames before he can get those torps off. Carrying my shiny turd in a fancy hand bag doesn't change the fact that it still stinks.

I do like the synergy Magnus has with that Fenn/TBC/Kad list though, it is probably a lot of fun to play.

My Fenn/Aggressor/Palob combo was 7 points from a 3-1 finish in a tourney this weekend. Fenn is a blast to play. I had trouble with Agg and Palob tripping over each other and rocks that I think I would have had a better go with my Scum Aces trio.
