L
ackwit does it again, the thread that nobody in particular asked for. This is a thread about Star Wars: Battlefront. Much like the
STAR WARS: REBELS
thread, this thread is for any and all discussion pertaining to Battlefront that may exist here in the Off Topic forum as a singular, unified spot. As the only major Multiplayer Star Wars title out there right now, it isn't exactly an irrelevant game, even though many have thrown it to the wolves.
Not without justification, either. Battlefront has had many ups and downs, but more of the latter than the former, unfortunately. If you possess a copy of Battlefront for the PC, Xbox One or Playstation 4, then you might even come here to inquire whether or not fellow players wish to partake in jolly cooperation on a galactic theater scale!

So I've gotten into Battlefront again recently after a several month long break. I've got a few opinions about the title and I'm curious to see if anybody else has something to offer. I'm having great fun, but believe me. I can see a lot of the glaring flaws in the game. With all the new DLC and much of the Hutt cartel content gated unless you possess said DLC, it is very much a situation of the Haves VS. the Have Nots. Which really sucks for the new player starting from scratch. Now, with some dedication and free time you can catch up to the other dudes pretty quick but the question remains: Should you really have to in a multiplayer game?
I've always been of the opinion, "No" as a long standing player of the Halo franchise, where level really only lets you wear cooler armor and have bigger bragging rights, but never anything like having an innate advantage over fresh, new players. Everybody is a contender. This is not the case with... Well, honestly, any game by DICE, but it
was
the case with games like Battlefront and Battlefront II, since they had distinct, rigid class systems.
But I don't see the star cards going away in favor of a rigid class based system in the Sequel Trilogy based sequel, frankly. Many modern games absolutely believe players need a carrot on a stick to keep interest. Which I believe to be completely untrue- if the carrot is never there in the first place, the player must find something else to reward them.
If you ask me, merely enjoying and playing the game should be the reward in and of itself.
Now, is Battlefront a worthwhile product a year later for the new player? If you get the edition with the season pass, yes, absolutely it is. So long as you've got a little free time.
Though, that games are completed a year later is a death star sized problem in and of itself. There's a whole lot to say, a whole lot to cover, and a lot of it is going to flutter between good and bad!
Go ahead and join the year late conversation!
