3rd Party Range Rulers and Other Tools

By Undeadguy, in Star Wars: Armada

As linked to above, I'll 2nd the Cog'o'Two stuff, my buddy and I really like them. Their fighter rulers are awesome because they're cut at the ends so they sit flush with the squadron bases. Makes it dead simple to move the squadron the max distance.

I was curious about this brand. The squadron rulers are somewhat shorter than the actual "range" rulers to account for this, right? I like the idea, but the execution seems chancy.

I saw one game online where the fighter movement rulers had indentations along the side (rather than the ends) for squadron bases to fit into.

Anyone know where these could be found?

The other day I posted a 3D printable maneuver tool on Thingiverse. The idea was to have a cheap alternative for slower speeds.

I am working on a much improved version that has a better click, more detail and easier assembly that should be done soon.

Checked out Cog o' Two. They only have the ones with indentations on the ends.

The rulers I saw had them along the side.

Now I'm trying to remember where I saw the video.

Just ordered the applied perspective double sided ruler! Can't frickin wait!

Now I just need to get it painted, if only I knew someone who was really great at that, preferably local, and well known amongst the community....

It's super easy, it'll come covered in paper except for the parts of the acrylic they were etched out, so you really can just put paint right in the gaps, no problemo.

Unless you don't have the paints, in which case I bet any local hobbyist can slap the paints on it fit really cheap.

Sharpie makes water-based Acrylic markers in white, red, blue, and black and are perfect for coloring in acrylics. What's nice is that you don't even need the masking paper to still be on the ruler - just marker the hell out of it, let it dry, add a second coating, then just scrape off whatever excess remains with a credit cards or another acrylic template.

Recreator studios blue range rulers. Great packaging. Only took a few days to get to me and the blue looks great. Uploaded here to show you the colors since they only show grey on the site. This is the blue transparent.
