Newbye needs rules clarifications :)

By Vondodo, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Hi i play armada with friends mostly.

1) So we have this doubt about collisions.

Lets consider a Victory impacting frontally with an MC 80.

Both ships are too slow to pass after the other.

are they stuck there until the end of the match or there is a way to escape that lock...

Maybe i can rotate them at least during their maneuver even if taking damage?

2) Another doubt i have regards those abilities that says "you can spend a dice" to turn one dice to the X face.

Should i avoid throwing said dice thus consuming 2 dices for 1 chosen result or just use 1?

3) This last is about accuracy dice:

I saw a vid in wich the targeted defense token was exausted...should i exaust the targeted token or only put it aside?

4) can i attack the same opponent hull zone from the same ship if the attack comes from 2 different hulls of the attacker

then a ruler question:

I was looking for an official plastic (or non cardboard) replacement for the range tool ... does any exists?

1. Depending on how close you are and how directly you are lined up, it is very possible to be unable to get past a blocking ship and for the opponent to be in the same situation. Just keep pulling the trigger and asking for fire support from your other ships and squadrons until you blow him away. Repair commands can prolong your life until the enemy evaporate. In less lined up situations plotting a nav command to get extra Yaw or speed may get you past but this is more likely with smaller based ships or faster vessels than VSDs.

2. e.g. Screed: Throw a dice away (it's spent, gone, kaput) then set another dice to a face with a crit including a black dice set to hit+crit.

3. If you spend a green defence token it turns to red. If the enemy accuracies a green defence token it stays green but you can't spend it for this volley. You can then spend it for any subsequent volley including from the ship that just fired the accuracy if he has you double arced. -- Note that some face up damage cards and Nym can result in defence tokens being discarded even if they were targeted by an accuracy so you may have witnessed that on the video.

4. Yes if you have that hull zone double arced. Very deadly.

5. There were official FFG rulers as prizes for the 2016 Regionals which you can buy on ebay. Companies such as Cog o two make unofficial range rulers, tokens etc.

I'll elaborate on #2 a bit.

Let's take Screed "spend a die to turn anther die to a face with a [crit] icon" ( not exact wording.) So you start by rolling all of the dice that you are entitled to roll for the attack. Then you decide if you even want to activate the ability. If you do, you select any die that matches the criteria (in Screen's case that's any die you want) and you set that die to the side and flip one of the other rolled dice from whatever face it was on to a face with a crit icon.

So if your Gladiator got two blanks on black dice you could spend one of the blanks to turn the other one to a hit/crit. It's not always worth using those abilities, you just have to gauge the situation.

FFG put out rulers for store champs and nationals. Regionals had dice.

I'll never play tournaments :(

Also dices are out of stock everywhere .....

I'll just wait :)

thank you for the answers.

While i am here. is the laser targetlock from army painter to check hull arc tournament legal?

Not that i plan to play a tournament just wondering

Technically, I don't think so, but it might fall into the gray area.

Either way, I have a line laser, no one has ever made a fuss it complained about it. They are quite common on the tournament scene.

Laser sights are fine, just remember that they count as a tool, and you can only use one tool at once.

If I have a laser sight on my rifle, can I bring it?

But you cannot use the laser sight at the same time as the rifle.

Not to the FFG GC they ban guns.

To clarify. That was a joke between two europeans, safe in the knowledge that no one is going to take a gun to a armada game...

Key word being Europeans. Come to the US and it's likely someone has a conceal carry permit and is packing... You know, so they can be a "good citizen with a gun".

Uh oh, the political narrative is getting deep in here.

Uh oh, the political narrative is getting deep in here.

Not as deep as the Russians dug their bomb shelters for their WWIII drills.

Not as deep as deep as China's government telling their people to prepare to fight a war with the U.S. Which they expect to lose.

And Putin telling their people WW3 was inevitable, prepare for "Scortched Earth".
