When did wins stop counting?

I love the amount of salt in the rant, based upon your own lack of understanding of the game.

At least you're eating your humble pie in a very mature manner (the EDIT to your post). A lesson all of us could learn, to both react less hyperbolically and without fact-checking first and to be humble and gracious when we are wrong. Thank you, Crabbock.

The Corellian expansion will bring more tournament scenarios to add variety to the type of games being played.

There are hints at green missions too which may be non tournament scenarios designed to achieve certain campaign outcomes.

Yeah, I was just kidding, because of this exact product.

Yeah it's embarrassing to be so ignorant of an important rule for this game, a game I've been playing since launch.

I mean I've been playing X-Wing a long time too, and it always comes down to that final table - could you imagine if Paul Heaver at Worlds, lost at the final table, but still ended up with the championship after loosing the final round? Like... I don't even know what the rules are for X-Wing now, because it USED to be Wins, Modified Wins, and then Losses. Margin of Victory only came into effect when people were tied for wins. Now though, I have literally no idea and will probably have to look it up before my next X-Wing tournament.

And that's another reason I started this thread - because when I googled Armada Tournament Points, I only got an old PDF that had the original rules, when it was 5-5 for narrow margins, etc. I didn't see the most updated information and I know this community will generally give good information. Most of the feedback here has been pretty illuminating. Only a handful of people have been unnecessarily snarky, and I appreciate that.

You guys are awesome!

Clearly you are also unaware that unnecessary snark is the renewable power-source of the future.

Well, to be fair, that's an entirely different situation as well - being that it happens after a cut... and so far in Armada, we've only had 1 or 2 tournaments actually have enough players at one point, to go to a 4 player Cut.... Barely a handful have even qualified for the 2 Player Cut...

It is theoretically possible to lose your last game and still win the Tournament with Armada... But this wouldn't be a surprise to you... That would be a known reward for dominating your opponents to the point that you knew the margin of points between You and Second was substantial.

I imagine it would be a situation where your opponent might need to beat you 10-1 in order to win, so you might still sneak in a win with a 5-6 or 4-7 loss. I can imagine that sort of thing, because it is similar to what happened this weekend, at least in how it seemed counter intuitive to me.

I really like people's examples of how you need to THINK about your score. A Pyrrhic victory is no victory at all in Armada - just like Pyrrhus ended up doing so poorly after his victories. If you view a 6-5 or 7-4 win as a draw, it helps you strategize much better.

And the only real FLAW in the system is when you have new players who easily get tabled - they in a sense, hand out unnecessary points to everyone they face, and in small tournaments, that can put a below average player in the top 2 for score, depending on how things go.

I'm ok with it now though.... I've had time to process it and adjust my thinking. I've been flying lots of TRC-90s as-of late.... with that many ships, it can be difficult to pull off a 9-2 or 10-1 victory, because I'm almost certainly going to lose a few ships. I had typically PLANNED to lose a few, and now I need to plan for total domination. I feel bad for my future opponents.
