Star Trek Ascendancy

By Marinealver, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

So I already posted this in the X-wing Off-Topic forum. I know Star Trek post in a Star Wars Forum.

Still I have said before I think Armada makes for a better Star Trek game than a Star Wars. But that's getting off on a tangent. A New board game from Gale Force Nine.

Looks like an interesting game, it is more like Twilight Imperium than Armada and right now it is a 3 player starter module with faction modules coming out as expansions. Ferengi and Cardassians are the ones announced. Price is hefty at $100 for the base that give you the big Three, Federation, Klingons, and Romulans. I don't know what the expansions are so I'm going to guess $30. Because the starter is essentially 3 player sets in one. No two player format though.

I'd expect $40 for the expansions. You get a higher markup with expansion material.

Real curious about this game, I'm a big fan of huge, epic 4x games.

Yeah, I'm treating it is a 3-5 player game for $180.

This game is on my must play list and possibly my buy list. It may get relegated to my endless "when I retire bucket list"!

I just can't wait for the Borg and Dominion expansions. I think the game is simplified and broad enough to put those two factions in and a unique but not overpowering way.

They did leave the game open for possibilities. The tholians are mentions which would be an isolationist faction. You could have a mirror universe terran empire as well.

My retirement plan is not retiring. Seriously pensions are now a myth and and retirement accounts are only good until the next market crash where wall street packs ups and runs of with the money.

A bunch of guys where I work retired, took a month off, and came back part-time to pay for their health insurance.

Well enough about retirement and the overpriced economy. So apparently the expansions will be out in December .

They got pushed back to 2017.
