After your manoeuvre, if you're at range 3 autothrusters will kick in for a free evade, or if you're at range 2 you can boost into range 1 where the twin laser turrets can't shoot you.

Well, AT Poe with focus vs a tlt with focus, for example, expects .78 damage in total.

The trick is managing range so that you're only in range of two tlts max, or alternatively in range one of two or more. In which case R5-P9 is going to shed nearly as much damage as your opponent's entire list is outputting.

Add a procket Jake and a 30pt ship of your choice, and you're shiny.

Watch out for smart use of asteroids, as tlt players worth their salt know how to manage range too, and the best tool at their disposal is asteroid placement. (and unhinged astromech, if they're running it! slippery tlts...)

This list would be all kinds of fun to fly against 4 tlts...

They are a thing in your meta? People haved moved on here and fly more effective lists.

Or just be outside of their firing arc, the autothrusters upgrade was built to reward arc dodging turreted ships.

Autothrusters kicks in at range three or if you're outside their primary arc, y-wing's and k wings Arnt that agile so you slot in behind them and stay there evading their fire while you tear them a new one.

Breaking formation is your friend. 6 TLT attacks are still solid damage. 4 TLTs are still a strong list, rips through Dengar like butter. Against Autothrusters those TLTs still need to be flown properly as getting arc and range 2 is no easy feat to achieve and you need to get 2, better even 3 Ys into good attack position for those sweet 6 TLT shots.

wouldn't mind more, though, but mostly because I'm so bored of scouts

if it happens and TLTs come back en masse due to the vacuum left by scouts, it will be the bomber's time to shine

note not to imply that the bomber will somehow be the new torp scout (it does have almost literally the same offense, just with homing missiles instead of deadeye, but less durability and a worse dial and no PWT which leads to a horrid late game). They're still really good ships, but they're "fair" whereas the torp scout is not considered to be so

but given that deadeye gammas are cheaper (if you even go deadeye gammas, which are more for hitting higher PS targets due to no TL requirement), you can arguably fit more firepower with bombers than with scouts, making murdering TLTs even easier

plus, at Ps 5, they can't even attempt to out PS you with generics

TLTs do a max of two damage a round and roll three dice, so you have two options, which are the two extremes of the defensability spectrum:

Completely dodgy - needs to reliably pitch two or three evade results every round. Think Soontir Fel, Vader, or another TIE ace with autothrusters.

Fat tanky ships - needs to never evade anyway and have a ton of hit points. Think VCX-100 (ghost) or VT-49 (decimator).

You mentioned putting ordinance on x wings in the original post, I would recommend trying something more points efficient.

Putting torpedoes on x wings is generally not done because x wings are a couple points too expensive for what they bring to the table. Adding ordinance makes them even grossly more expensive. But I think it is a common rookie mistake....I know I've done it plenty in the past.and lost a lot of games and never understood why.

But as an experiment...try removing upgrades as much as possible in order to fit an entire additional ship.

I think you may find it plays better and will give more bang for the buck...er... points.

bad luck with opposing green dice tend to cold clock bombers so...don't fly em too often (except "Deathfire", because **** yeah conners)

easiest thing to do is Gamma Vet with crackshot/deadeye, homing missiles, extras and LRS/chips (personally would do one of each; LRS is good but it's really ******* annoying sometimes so I never fly more than one)

two of those and your typical Inquisitor (PTL, title, thrusters) leaves just enough for a black squadron crackshot, so...

at a glance, I guess you could start with that. Has the alpha (neither missiles nor inqy care about range bonus, so TLTs have no advantage there), has the PS and has the thrusters

TLTs do a max of two damage a round and roll three dice, so you have two options, which are the two extremes of the defensability spectrum:

Completely dodgy - needs to reliably pitch two or three evade results every round. Think Soontir Fel, Vader, or another TIE ace with autothrusters.

Fat tanky ships - needs to never evade anyway and have a ton of hit points. Think VCX-100 (ghost) or VT-49 (decimator).

I think that last remark is a bit of an overstatement. Tlt are not one of the most powerful weapons in this game

They have plenty of weakness.

In most cases half their shots are not modifies, and they have that range 1 Blindspot, something which plenty of ships and pilots can exploit.

I had a game once against quad tlt. I had 3 ships, biggs, wedge, and Poe. Biggs and wedge died fast, then it was Poe, 1 vs 4 (might have been 3 can't remember) and Poe just tore them another...

Got behind 2 of them and the other was out of arc. With his ability, and auto thrusters so long as I rolled 1 focus and a blank I'd take A dmg so long as he did 3 hits a lot of times he just did 2, and when he did hit and Poe finally took a dmg, he Regen it back anyway.

They were potent, but not one of the most powerful, at least not in my opinion

It is easy to hate on TLTs, the question is what list can hate on TLTs and Imperial Aces as well. Maybe the Poe 9 might give rebels a better Arc Dodger designed to deal with turrets much how Corran Horn is good against fat ships. Still I think Dengaroo might be your best answer.

(4) TLT?

The trick is hedging (4) TLT's flanks in angles that disallow 2-3 ships on the opposite flank a shot due to Range 4. This allows you to slice the pie into bite-size pieces.

If the initial pass looks sketchy... Clear out fast and straight... Reset at distance... And slice more pie.

If you have Boost, use Autothrustors. Turret uses are almost never facing you so thats a free evade 90% of the time (cant mod eyeballs, ive seen that be the reason someone died lol).

TLTs have a range 1 deadzone. Hug them and dont let go. It takes a fair bit of prediction to be consistently in range1, but thats good practice for ya anyway.

That's why I said one of the most powerful, not the most powerful. I've been playing this game for a long time, and I remember when the only turret was an ion turret! Usually, turrets don't do a lot of damage or are very expensive. TLTs aren't OP in terms of their ability, they're just a great deal... Especially compared to, say, blaster turrets!

That's why I said one of the most powerful, not the most powerful. I've been playing this game for a long time, and I remember when the only turret was an ion turret! Usually, turrets don't do a lot of damage or are very expensive. TLTs aren't OP in terms of their ability, they're just a great deal... Especially compared to, say, blaster turrets!

I've been playing for awhile myself Wave2/3. Still doesnt change the fact I don't think it's one of the most powerful weapon the game. It Maybe one of the most powerful turrets, and that's not saying much as most don't do much dmg on average, but you didn't say turret, but weapon, which I feel is a bit of an overstatement.
