Carnor, Omega leader and?....

By lewiscrisp, in X-Wing Squad Lists

There's a tournament coming up in a few weeks and I want to try my hand at an imperial aces style list. So far I'm pretty settled on Jax and Omega Leader as I like the synergy between them, as it negates a lot of action economy from other ships.

The issue is I can't make my mind up about who to fill the final spot with.

The current setup I have is:

Standard Carnor Jax (34 pts)

-AT, SD, Title, PTL

Standard OL (29 points)

-SD, Juke, Comm relay

For the last spot I was thinking Either a tooled out inquisitor with Prockets at 34 pts

Or trimming the SD off OMega leader and running a 39 point Whisper.

Also as another thought, without Palp is it worth running the SD on Jax, or should I run a targeting computer instead?

The inquisitor variety gives me a strong initiative bid coming in at 96 points.

I don't have Palp, soonts or defenders so what would you recommend to run with?

No You Don't (99)

Carnor Jax (34) - TIE Interceptor

Push The Limit (3), Royal Guard TIE (0), Autothrusters (2), Stealth Device (3)

"Omega Leader" (29) - TIE/FO Fighter

Juke (2), Comm Relay (3), Stealth Device (3)

Captain Kagi (36) - Lambda-Class Shuttle

Sensor Jammer (4), Rebel Captive (3), Agent Kallus (2)

Juke works best the more things you can pile on that mess with Focus tokens. By my reconning, you have 37 points to play with so more ships with Juke or Sensor Jammer seem like good choices. Here are a couple of ideas.

36 Vessery (35), /x7 Title (-2), Juke (2), Tie Mk2 (1)

37 OGP (21), Palpatine (8), Sensor Jammer (4), ST-321 (3)

Vessery is a great choice and the /x7 Defender is quite a tough little ship. Only downside is that OL is you only spotter although you could give Carnor a targetting computer.

Palp shuttle is a long-time favourite. This version has Sensor Jammer to mess with your opponent's Focus tokens again and also has the title to allow you to grab a TL on turn 1 so you can Focus later on.

Hey guys, cheers for the suggestions. Sadly I don't have either of the ships suggested to be able to run those :(

I am rather limited in my imperial repertoire at the mo. So I'm basically stuck with a Phantom, Interceptor or a TAP for the final slot!

The list I posted was the version of Palp Aces I've flown, except with different crew because you said you don't have Palp. I like Kagi in this combo because his ability complements the other two, and paints him as an obvious target. Kagi is meat for the grinder so Omega Leader gets to be the late game threat we know and love. Add tractor beam for a little

more fun if you don't care about making an initiative bid. Kagi also helps against munitions builds dependent on Long range Sensors. In those matchups, keep Kagi as far from the action as possible, thereby saving OL and Carnor from nasty things like Homing Missiles.

You replied while I was writing my last post. Bummer on your limited selection. I would run Inquisitor, because Whisper wants intitiative while any Interceptor desperately needs to not have it.

Soontir fits but the list is incredibly vulnerable to mistakes and green dice variance.

I've run it. And lost. A lot.

Without a Palpshuttle, you run a much higher risk running Stealth Devices. My normal rule of thumb is, PalpShuttle = Stealth Devices, no Palpshuttle = No Stealth Devices. I'd say to go for the Inquisitor and see if you can fit the points for Shield Upgrade on Carnor Jax at least and see what you have left for Omega Leader's mod slot after kitting out Inquis the way you want. That first hit on your Interceptor pilots not being a crit is nice. I've seen it save some people's Carnor Jax often enough.
