Mercenary Melee List

By buckero0, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

So this is my all too early list-building exercise to generate discussion as well as help me narrow down some options for a Melee based list for Mercenaries. After playing force users Rebel lists, I thought this would a fun twist on my favorite faction, it'll also help familiarize and theorize about the new spoiled cards.

Here's the list, what needs to stay, what needs to go?

Shyla 8

Jabba 6

Onar 6 ( technically not Melee but he'll want to be pretty close to attack usually)

Elite Gamoreans 8

Elite Gamoreans 8

Nexu 4

Command Cards ( this is where I need help as I've got too much of everything)

Assassinate 3 (take down the big baddy the opponent brought)

Tools for the Job 2

Heightened Reflexes 2 ( it's easier when they don't roll dice)

Emergency Aid 2

Provoke 1

Guardian Stance 1 (rerolls are good)

Bodyguard 1 x2 (keep Onar alive an extra turn)

Ferocity 1

Single Purpose 1 (Jabba's card)

Negation 1

Stealth Tactics 1

Camoflauge 1

Element of Surprise 0

Rally 0

Urgency 0

Opportunistic 0

Disorient 0

Wild Attack 0

I need to trim this down but I don't know what to cut out. I also need room for Shyla and Onar's individual cards maybe.

Would the Brawler cards be just as useful? I've never played so many or some of these Guardian cards ever.

Parting Blow, Close the Gap, Counter Attack look alright

I think your biggest problem is that you need to drop the two Gamoreans and the Nexu for two Rancors.

Edit: just kidding

I think the Gamoreans have some merit. They hit hard, actually have more health and a defensive reroll. Unless the rancor always run around trained, they'll go down quick. In fact the biggest problem I see now is that there is a lot of damage flying around, the older figures cost more, but their real weakness is they don't have the health to stay alive long enough.

I'd stake my Melee list against two rancors, I think in a lot of maps, it's too easy to focus down a massive models. Having played double bantha, they start to get in each other's way. It's not quite as bad as double tank or tank and ATST,because they can still shoot, but it does limit a Melee creature like the rancor. I think one rancor=good, 2 = not so good. I like having more activations as well

Sorry, I guess I should have made it clear that I was joking :D

I think the list look pretty interesting! I don't play a lot of skirmish so I can't help you out on command cards. And we have yet to see any of the merc hero special cards.

I don't really like Onar, and my Mercs never leave home without some Hired Guns and/or an Ugnaught. Swapping Onar for Hired Guns would leave you with 2 points for upgrading the Nexu to elite.

The rest seems pretty solid. I like Shyla and the eGamoreans.

You could Temp Alliance and go Wookiee Warrior x2 as well.
