The Old Republic: Knights of the Eternal Throne

If Shoto end is lenght of your palm basically, wouldn't that make a really flimsy or short pike? Ah well, go for it. :P

At any rate, it does look good and I am planning on getting a bit more extended hilt, to get more torgue to my charcter's lightsaber attacks. But I was planning on making it bit like Darth Maul's lightsaber size, because that is enough. But that telescopic-thingy seems actually pretty sweet, AND it would help me conceal the lightsaber a bit better.

Actually, looks like it's the same size as a regular lightsaber and can then extend into either a long-hilted lightsaber or to a full-on lightsaber spear (pike, whatever). Can't be any worse than FN-2199's expandable tonfa for flimsiness.

My chief interest in it is for concealment and ease of carry. The versatility of having a weapon that can be used as a regular lightsaber (particularly in claustrophobically close quarters) and might otherwise appear and function as an expandable baton/bō/quarterstaff when used without the blade ignited is a nice bonus.

I really wish they'd just make another KOTOR already...

Yep.

Me too. I wouldn't mind the co-op aspect being saved for it tho. It might be fun to play with friend. Similar fashion you could in Baldur's Gate.

Every time they release a new video I really want to play the game. But I only like solo games, I hate MMOs, it's not available for Mac, and the gameplay looks nothing at all like the vids, so thankfully after a couple of days the fit wears off. But a KOTOR would be awesome.

I've got windoze on a partition that I play games on, works great actually, and you are right about TOR. It's just okay but held back by MMO combat mechanics, grindy repetitive gameplay, and sh*tty graphics. You're not missing anything.

Meh, if only the graphics would be the only problem... :(

By many accounts (and from the few sample-play videos I've watched), all the dialogue and plot points seem to be in place. I don't know why they couldn't release a solo version of each character arc, without the grind and with better graphics. Sure, it would still be a large development effort, but they wouldn't have to redo all the acting. I'd probably buy several arcs, even if they sold them separately at $50 a pop, if each arc was re-playable. Heck, if I paid $5 for each time I've played through KOTOR, they'd have made more money than on the original sale.

Actually, at this point, it pretty much is a solo game. You can play through the entire game by yourself if that's what you truly want and you can do so without much grinding. I very rarely play with others when I want to play and I don't do much grinding.

It's been a while since I've played it, but I remember it feeling like basically a shared universe KOTOR, kind of like how Destiny is. But less grinding and more SP content.

I'll be honest, SWTOR is to blame for my love of the Shadow spec. I've been having amazing fun with my Assassin, and somehow that resulted in me picking up a taste for sneaky Force-users.

You can play TOR solo. In fact, since the original launch they've put significant effort into making it so you can play just the story (solo) and not have to worry about grinding side quests or areas, etc. If you're a subscriber then just playing your class quests (class story) will give you enough XP to level you up to keep up with where your class story sends you and you get gear good enough to keep you up to par. They've explicitly put features into the game for the players who don't like standard MMOs, grinding, but who just want to have fun with a good story.

Well, gee thanks guys, now I'm all conflicted again :)

At this point in its life, I'd say getting into it is not worth it anymore. If you're after the story experience or the role-playing experience, you'll probably walk away disappointed. The stories are pretty good and can offer a lot of ideas on how to design a character (LS/Gray Imperial Agent and LS/Gray Sith Inquisitor are great), but you can get the experience by watching the story cutscenes on YouTube, if you binge them like a Netflix series or something. The game play is just too aged and repetitive to be worth cutting through, especially considering that missions follow this formula: NPC tells you their problem, go to location on a map and kill an army's worth of enemies, possibly collect a bunch of useless items, return to NPC for rewards, wash, rinse, repeat.

Video game RPGs and tabletop RPGs are different creatures, but it doesn't feel like an RPG in the same that KotOR does. This causes some problems, considering how much of a peacemaker a Consular is supposed to be, or how sneaky an Imperial Agent is supposed to be, they sure do leave a trail of dead bodies behind them.
