Reb Mc 30 maddness

1. Bid: I honestly look to bid in a list like this. I'm usually looking to swipe first player from the bomber list, as that will be key to flying in and flying out, especially as your activations generally mean you'll be able to first last.

2. The sensor team on the third MC30T is weird. I could see you putting one on a Scout. You're better off with H9 and another APT. Run one H9 MC30T: that's your flotilla killer if you need one.

3. I'm not sure 2 X-wings gets you anything you wouldn't get with 2 A-wings, so that's a way to save 4 points. I'd also be inclined to think that your ideal is simply to pin enemy ships in place while your own ships finish the carrier, so you might try to reduce that to just the A-wings. Although I love placement at the start of the game, if you're going second, you should have a last placement most of the time with an MC30, and even if you do have to place them down before the enemy's final ship, you can usually maneuver and fly where you need to.

.

4. Getting a Comms net is really nice for passing CF tokens to your MC30s. Having that last blank black with a reroll is really nice for upping their damage.

5. I'm personally fond of at least a Jaina's Light TRC in my Mothma lists, the idea being that you'll have an MC30 right in the thick of things but can still drop ranged damage. That's a bit more flexible than just dropping blue dice MC30s. It also lets you adjust your targets somewhat, whereas the MC30 almost has to pick a target, drop a huge amount of dice and fly off, so its actually not quite as flexible. And I think that flexibility is the key to tabling versus just getting a 6-5 or a 7-4.

6. Objectives: I find Minefields too drawish for my tastes. For 3 MC30s, I'd probably run Dangerous Territory. If you're going to fly against a bomber list, you want to force your opponent to a particular place on the map. Intel Sweep does this the best, but Jaina's Light is probably the best objective ship for that objective, and I'm not sure I'd either want to run it off a Flotilla or pull an MC30 possibly away from combat duty to be my objective ship. DT on the other hand forces your opponent to telescope movement a little bit at set-up, enough that placement isn't huge with your MC30s.

Interesting list, I ran a similar one yesterday based off another thread that had Mothma and 4 MC30s or something and it was very successful.

Mine was 3 MC30Ts, each with ord. exp., SFO, and APTs. One had H9s to punish people who put their admirals on flotillas and people who don't run ECMs, the other two were Foresight and Admonition. Then I had Jaina's Light + TRC for the reasons Vergillius stated, and 3 flotillas (one with slicer tools, one with comms net) for activation baiting and deployments. I didn't even bother with squadrons because I feel like these sort of lists don't need them. I would also get a good initiative bid, this list wants to go first.

I would also drop the minefields. In my experience players with multiple small ships who take minefields have it backfire hilariously. I think intel sweep is a much safer choice, can't go wrong with dangerous territory either.
