Back when the toolkit was described it was going to be all you needed to add an extra player to the game, including dice. Am I missing mine from the box or did they cut the dice so you have to buy them separately?

You are remembering incorrectly.
The official announcement only states: "and available at the same time, FFG will be offering (as a separate product) an accessory pack featuring additional Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay custom dice! " While the timing of the dice pack release has turned out to be false, there was never any indication that dice would be included in the AT. Re-read the actual product announcement.
Would have been nice to get some extra dice in there though. At least the extra dice sets are not looking too expensive.
