The UKTC is an independently run annual team tournament.

http://uktc2016.weebly.com/star-wars-x-wing.html

On Sunday, thanks to the hard work and vision of Ian and Barrie,153 players making up 51 teams will compete in the 2nd annual UKTC.

Each team must consist of an Imperial player, a Rebel player and a Scum & Villainy player.

100 point dogfights with swiss team pairings.
Details of how the individual matchups are decided when a team is paired:

The team with the lowest combined squad total decides who has Team Initiative. The Team Initiative is used solely for the purpose of determining pairings and do not follow through to the individual games being played.

The team with the Team Initiative will be Team A, the other will be Team B. Team A captain nominates his/her first player and picks a player from Team B to be their opponent.Team B captain then nominates his/her second player and picks a player from Team A to be their opponent. The remaining players will make the last pairing.

Team lists were submitted in advance and were made available to all teams last weekend.

Should be a good day. Lots of new wave 9 ships there.

1st Weekend Warlords

2nd 186 Green

3rd Vanguardians of the Galaxy

The Norra, Shera, Biggs list was very interesting.

Love those Attani Mindlink lists.

Had a great time despite my aggressively mediocre performance. As a team we went 3-3 and had some great opponents.

Definitely coming back next year and playing Scum. Need a nice variety of dog tags.

Yeah, I might have to suck it up and try to play Imperials next time so I can get the full set.

Similarly I also went 3-3 (both personally and as a team), I only had one game where I felt I played badly though and the other two losses were well fought. So really it feels like a moral 5-1 and that's what counts. :P

Incidentally I was also happy with the way the day went - the announced schedule ended up being accurate (!) so well done to the organisers as well.

Great event. Went 4-2 and a team 3-3, so happy with that. Two team losses both had a game come to a single hull point, so very close, and both being unfavourable match ups, so great all round.

Thanks to opponents, organisers etc.

I personally went 2-4 which was a bit sucky, but I did have a couple of really dicey rounds. A couple of fairly major screwups, too, but still.

I managed to nuke a Soontir with Baffled Rage QD, which was my goal for the day, so happy with that...

Love the team format. You get a bad roll or make a poor move and feel the game's slipping away then you look left and right at your teammate's games an see they've both got their s**t on lock. Feels good. Congrats to the winners and thanks to my first round opponent who helped me through a game by pretty much playing my list for me: I was really hungover from driking with the team the night before.

"Chopper" + Fire-Control System + Autoblaster Turret + Hera Syndulla (42)

Dash Rendar + Push the Limit + Heavy Laser Cannon + Kanan Jarrus + Engine Upgrade + Outrider (58)

The Biggs/Nora/Shara list is interesting as it's immune to the kind of damage spikes needed to damage Defenders and Palp backed aces. Tanking damage and the ability to deliver huge (5+) hits looks to be the way ahead.

The Fenn Rau/Old Teroch/Manaroo + Attanni Mindlink lists did well individually on the day. That's also a list that can suck up and deal huge hits.

With stress possibly returning with the Shadowcaster and the ARC leading the charge, pure aces/ high PS PTL arc dodgers look to be worse off.

PS war truly over?
Tanking cold war/arms race beginning?

1st Weekend Warlords

2nd 186 Green

3rd Vanguardians of the Galaxy

4th Dux Squadron

5th 186th Podcast

6th Crimson Aces Alpha

7th Smurfs

(This might look a bit different to the first results displayed as the scores were the wrong way around for Death Penalty vs 186th Podcast in round 6)

I was running the Fenn Rau/Old Teroch/Manaroo + Attanni Mindlink for 186th Podcast and had great fun all day. I blatted some Boats, Imperial Aces and a fellow mindlink list on the way up, the list is also a great matchup vs Defenders (borderline-unwinnable)... Unless you mess up your approach, and also forget to trigger Old Teroch...

I'm really excited to talk about the event on our next episode, I think it's a great format (The team initiative bid being used to decide matchups is what makes it). It means you can take a whacky list with some good/bad matchups and a big initiative bid to ensure that you never play any bad matchups (In theory, anyways)...

It's my favourite format by a decent margin. I'm surprised FFG haven't incorporated it within organised play. 153 players for an unofficial format? Surely that gets their interest.

The format encourages a different approach to list building which made yesterday feel very fresh. Granted the introduction of wave 9 has a lot to do with that, and so far, so good!

Esdevium (UK's distributor) gave us some great support last year - everyone got one of the extended art Guri's which were only available at GenCon, it was great. Shame they weren't as involved as last year.

I do hope that FFG take note of it - the team format is excellent, it's great to be able to play with your friends, and the list building diversity encourages people to build & fly differently, it's great.

For the UK that's a pretty standard number for a national level event. UK nats had ~150 and most of the regionals have between 75 and 100. It's a fairly big scene here, and we have the advantage of most events being within a couple of hours of travel of more than 50% of the population.

Our tourneys are generally bigger than most.

I'm fully aware as I am a regular on the UK circuit. The point is that this is not an organised play tournament and also a unique format. Such a high number of attendees means something in that context.

It means there's a thriving x-wing community in the UK. It would be great if there were some official organised play team events, and I'm aware of a couple of places that have used seasonal kits for similar events.

I don't think it specialy means anything, but it would be nice if it did!

I have to agree with everyone so far, this is personally the best format I've played. Both my team mates also agree and will hopefully be back next year.

Our team went 4-2. I went 3-3 overall.

My last two matches where fantastic and where a hard fight. I lost both, but I loved every minute of them.

Great Day, Great Event, Fantastically ran.

Yeah, the lack of official support was a shame - after last year's was backed I was hoping to see more events like this pop up elsewhere across the globe.

I does help solve a lot of 'issues' that solo tournaments can have for people - allowing you to control the matchups is really nice when things can be a little rock-paper-scissory and the fact that you can lose but take one for the team is really nice. It's like a bigger, better version of a hangar bay in many ways.

Also worth pointing out that every game matters. Ordering is by team wins, then team MoV. So fighting for extra points of MoV is always worth it. You can lose the round and still come out on top with an improved MoV!

Lies! My losses were all tactically astute choices.

Definitely.

100%.

Thanks for sharing the tops lists. It's so very interesting to see just a few weeks before worlds.

I too have run Fenn Rau with Bossk and Suhlak. It's wonderful to see someone else with the same idea, and it do well!

I would say the PS war has truly widened. Perhaps we're in a ceasefire period. The primary reasons for this are:

Biggs at PS5

Ryad & Vessery at PS5 & PS6

Asajj at PS6

Nora at PS7

Old Teroch at PS7

X7 Defenders are a primary factor in the meta. You have to deliver 4dice+ attacks consistently to eventually take one down.
