Rebel big ships + Garm

By Artifixprime, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I got a chance to try out a fleet I've been kicking about for a while this week.

It uses all the big rebel ships I've got, Garm and Defense Liaisons.

I usually play with a lot of squadrons and small fast ships, so this was a change and proved to be good fun to play. Using Garm's tokens and the Liaisons turned command 3 ships into (effectively) command 1 ships.

The flexibility worked quite well with one standout moment as I was able to get Defiance out of range of Demolisher by changing my order to Nav and triggering engine Techs.

Haha. CF dial spamming defiance and mon karren :D

I have seen the liasons work well with Tarkin, so should work.

Not sure the assault frigate needs liasons, or maybe just attack liason. And you still need some squads surely!

But I like it as a concept.

Move XI7s onto the Command Cruiser. With Mon Karren many enemies will brace anyway so the XI7s do little.

Or the other way around? Ditch MK and keep the XI7s. With sensor teams you shouldn't have a problem locking down their brace, plus its an extra 8 points for your Command cruiser?

Swop assault frigate for two flotillas and some xwiings?

Speaking from personal experience, Garm and liaisons worked quite well for me back in Wave 1. No reason why they shouldn't come in handy here as well.

Fair point. It was the first outing of my MC80 (Liberty) and since I wasn't taking a gunnery team, I wanted to make sure that any shots I did get landed on target.

Mon Karren was useful in this setup - on one occasion I was taking long range (red) shots at demolisher and had accuracy-ed the Brace. Normally one of the dice could be cancelled due to Demo's Evade - but he had to make a choice between the Evade or Redirect and so too more damage than it otherwise would have.

Mon Karren doesn't really worth its name. Ok, sometimes it does, against ISDs but even against VSDs the title could worth less than some other cards.

Arcanis has a pretty good explanation here

No squadrons? Three ships kitted out as high point juicy targets are not competitive in the least.

That was a mostly solid analysis with 3 glaring faults.

-Crits getting pushed were not considered. Mon Karren is superior to anything for that

-Mon Karren looks worse because they only analyzed all together. Not a comparison of Mon Karren / IO vs X17/IO

-Mon Karren leaves the turbolaser slot free for more modifying.
