Murne False Orders - and stat tests

By Payens81, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

I am playing superior technology and I have come up with a question.

If I get the ARC blasters which after the attack anyone taking damage tests strength if they fail then they get stunned. Now if the rebel player uses False orders and attacks with a group that has arc blasters on it.

Will that mean since imperial troops do not have attribute tests that they automatically become stunned?

It depends. Non-hero regular figures and companions automatically fail attribute tests. Non-hero elite figures receive one success.

is that in the rules somewhere that you can reference me to please.

Rules Reference Guide, Page 7, "Attribute Tests",

• Only heroes roll dice for attribute tests. If an elite figure is required to perform an attribute test, it automatically receives 1 success. If a regular figure is required to perform a test, it automatically fails the test.

(Btw, False Orders lets attack with a single figure, not all figures in a group.)

Yes I understand that but arc blasters also give blast so if I group up my characters then with the blast he can stun several guys at once by taking over 1.... particularly at the start of the mission.

Just wanted to make sure after you said "uses False orders and attacks with a group"...

Anyway, the question about attribute tests is answered.

I'm pretty sure stun doesn't combine with blast, or am I wrong in the case of the Arc Blaster?

You can stun the target figure and blast the adjacent figures, but not stun and blast the adjacent figures correct?

Arc Blasters does not provide surge: Stun, it provides a different ability. (A regular Stun also doesn't require an attribute test to be failed for the Stunned condition to be applied.)

The wording of Arc Blasters would be much simpler if the attribute test and stunned would only apply to the target of the attack. It would not need to talk about "each figure".

Also, because Blast, Cleave and Conditions are attacker abilities, just like "after resolving a ranged attack" of Arc Blasters, their order can be decided by the attacker. So it's quite certain that also figures that suffer 1 or more damage from Blast need to perform the test and be stunned if they fail the test.

I agree about the "each figure", that makes it pretty obvious this was the intent of the ability

If the rebels get focused from several sources (Battle Meditation, Jeswandi Training, etc), Arc Blasters can be used to strip them focused , because it contains an attribute test. Riot Grenades is another card for the job, but is mostly useless otherwise.
