I was curious but i've seen Nebulon B models for X-Wing used as objectives for custom missions. Has anyone done or heard of something similar for the Eclipse? Mechanically the SSD is problematic so I imagine the much larger Eclipse would have to be a static object in the game field.

Untrue, with FFG's sliding scale, it could be made completely playable as an Epic Scale Armada ship.

It would probably have to be the game mat as the Eclipse was even larger than the Executer.

I can see it now. Imperial player places first and immediately fills up the entire mat. Subsequent ships collide upon placement, inflicting damage to the Eclipse and themselves. Eclipse activates first, destroys the largest rebel ship in a point-blank blast and attacks every starfighter on the board (huge front arc), then moves and goes off the board.

Just get a grey car, put some cardboard on it to make it into a doom-wedge and park it on top of a regular Armada game, there you go, Eclipse.

It's possible that the newcanon Eclipse is actually an Executor-class rather than a unique design - going by the way it was referenced in Aftermath: Life Debt.

One of the reason's I'm hoping for the SSD is that it opens the door for almost any ship in the star wars universe. Almost nothing (other than the super weapons) was longer than the SSD. They figure out the SSD then it's fair game on almost any ship.

As long as they hit up the 8km version of the SSD. Not the weird 2000s Wizards of the Coast 16km version.

I for one don't want it done halfway as a 1 foot model. I want a 2 foot or better model if we are doing this.

And please tell FFG that if they make an SSD for $100, don't stick potent and generally needed upgrades on it like in XWMG.

The Eclipse should come with gravity well projectors & maybe some droid fighter squadrons (that don't contribute to the fighters point cap. Mwah ha ha...)
