looking for advice on a tourney list for this weekend.

By xero989, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

My local meta has B-wings for days, trying to break the local meta with an imperial list like this one:

I have made some changes this list is the old List new list below this one

New List

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 386/400

Commander: Admiral Motti

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Contested Outpost
Navigation Objective: Dangerous Territory

[ flagship ] Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer (120 points)
- Admiral Motti ( 24 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
- X17 Turbolasers ( 6 points)
- Leading Shots ( 4 points)
= 168 total ship cost

Gladiator I-Class Star Destroyer (56 points)
- Demolisher ( 10 points)
- Ordnance Experts ( 4 points)
- Assault Proton Torpedoes ( 5 points)
= 75 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
- Comms Net ( 2 points)
= 25 total ship cost

Gozanti-class Cruisers (23 points)
= 23 total ship cost

1 "Mauler" Mithel ( 15 points)
1 Darth Vader ( 21 points)
1 Soontir Fel ( 18 points)
1 Dengar ( 20 points)
1 IG-88 ( 21 points)

I am debating on putting the relentless title on the ISD that would give me an 11 point bid, or droping IG-88 for a Tie interceptor and putting relentless on the ISD and and engine techs on Demo and still have a 14 point bid or I could keep IG-88 put engine techs on and have 6 point bid but while I would go first against said list other list would out do me for the bid. I'm pretty sure my list would get outbid even with the meta beaning a little more towards the 400 point area and I would really like demo to triple tap what do y'all think?

The list I am trying to counter is something around these lines.

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 396/400

Commander: General Dodonna

Assault Objective: Precision Strike
Defense Objective: Contested Outpost
Navigation Objective: Superior Positions

MC80 Command Cruiser (106 points)
- Flight Commander ( 3 points)
- Fighter Coordination Team ( 3 points)
- Boosted Comms ( 4 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
= 123 total ship cost

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57 points)
- Yavaris ( 5 points)
- Flight Commander ( 3 points)
- Fighter Coordination Team ( 3 points)
= 68 total ship cost

[ flagship ] GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- General Dodonna ( 20 points)
- Bright Hope ( 2 points)
- Boosted Comms ( 4 points)
- Bomber Command Center ( 8 points)
= 52 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Leia Organa ( 3 points)
- Boosted Comms ( 4 points)
= 25 total ship cost

6 B-Wing Squadrons ( 84 points)
1 X-Wing Squadron ( 13 points)
1 Jan Ors ( 19 points)
1 HWK-290 ( 12 points)

My idea is to go First take contested outpost and race In as fast as I can activate ISD last in round one to move my fighters onto the B-wings and Jan activate ISD first in second round burn down Jan and other intel forcing him to engage my squadrons and with Darth Vader Soontir and Dengar there going to take a beating. set up demo to do a triple tap on the MC-80 and clean up after that. its easier said than done, but I think its a strong Anti fighter screen, and if the flotillas get away I don't think it would be a big deal, but I'm pretty sure demo could catch one of them. Looking for thoughts what could make this list better against the B-wing Crazy?

I run a similar Rebel fleet to this but using Rieekan, 4 B-Wings and Wedge, Dutch, Jan & 1 X-Wing.

Even though your Dodonna list only has one escort fighter the spare intel will be a pain as he probably will keep one in reserve or split his fighters into 2 bunches distance 1-2 apart to stop Mauler chewing them up. Once you commit your 4 squadrons he will Yavaris them into oblivion before you can kill an X-wing and Jan and another HWK. You will need more squadrons.

Drop Expanded Launchers for an APT or ACM and ditch Intel officer. I would then drop a Gozanti giving you 31 or 29 points. Adding 3 tie interceptors or Howlrunner and 2 Tie-Fs or IG88 + Tie-I or just 4 Tie-Fs will improve your chances of bagging the intel. Once that happen the B-wings are temporarily pinned long enough for your killer ships to burn the carriers. Banking squadron tokens on turn 1 with the flotilla and maybe even Demolisher can help get them all activated and you will quickly loose casualties so it doesn't matter that you have more fighters than you can activate.

I run a list similar to that. Jan and hwk dont engage till they need to so you cannot alpha strike them.

You can try killing yavaris fast, but they will have bwing vengeance.

Considerations:

He activates last ship so will get to move the last of his squadrons up after all of your activations... That sucks for you and your ambush of his fighters as he will likely use Neb last, push 2, then activate... 2 b-wings have now been pushed 1 + 1 + start 2 forward... he can, on round 1, legitimately Yavaris double tap 2 B's onto any of your ships that moved at speed 3+.

If you can delay moving Mauler until squadron phase, then you can set him last (assuming he moves most of his squads using FC/FCT during ship phase), get the 1 damage, then activate him first in next round for a second.

Crazy thoughts:

*Disclaimer* I have not tired this kind of crazy yet, but it could be a legitimate tactic if not prepared for it... these lists are concentrating on protecting/freeing the wings with Jan so it may be surprise enough to pull it off,

Maybe ignore the whole B-wing menace and just set up to attack Yavaris (and thereby drawing wings forward with your juicy Dem target set just out of their strike range) in round 1. Round 2, first strike with Dem activating a couple of your wings (Bomber, Darth for blacks) + shot after move + ram/et ram + on a side arc & take it out (it'll have to be close to have pushed the wings) before it can use it's title. Covering Dem with those 2 wings against counter wing strikes and hopefully make it through the round to run away. Especially if you use mauler to engage his squads for the damage end of round 1 as mentioned above, force them to move up the Jan to free them to move attack you, then maybe the other HWK isn't in range to give them the attack. It would have to set up correctly, but something to keep in mind as if it presents, it could be good fun.

Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 200/200

Gladiator II-Class Star Destroyer (62 points)
- Custom Commander ( 0 points)
- Demolisher ( 10 points)
- Flight Commander ( 3 points)
- Ruthless Strategists ( 4 points)
- Fighter Coordination Team ( 3 points)
- Assault Proton Torpedoes ( 5 points)
= 87 total ship cost

1 "Howlrunner" ( 16 points)
1 Soontir Fel ( 18 points)
1 Dengar ( 20 points)
1 IG-88 ( 21 points)
1 Bossk ( 23 points)
1 "Mauler" Mithel ( 15 points)

I used the above list in our local area for small tournament format. I added it to a 400 point list. The problem with the list was that after 3 turns there was no squadrons left to kill and I had spent a lot of points in not being able to kill ships but if you want to kill squadrons the above list will do it. A person could easily get rid of certain things but each unit brings something unique to the board.
