Quadjumper

By Epixca, in X-Wing

Didn't the one preview say something about it having six speed one maneuvers? That would mean turns, banks, straight, and a K or a sloop? That's interesting.

Don't forget Talon Roll. Imagine this: Green 1-banks, white 1-turns, red 1-talon rolls.

It has at least 1 Segnor's loop, as the reference card is included.

Reverse Segnors...YES!! ;)

Regarding "A Debt to Pay," squinting at the card and the condition reference indicates that it lets you change a focus to a crit when attacking the ship with the condition, but will likely also give the ship with the condition a modifier of their own.

"When

has

Upgrade

1 <eye>"

it comes with a Quadjumper Only modification/title card (spar...tractor...) that seems to doll out ACTION: t-beam tokens

which is amazing (though bound to come with other conditions given how much dang text is on the card)

I am far more interested in the card right next to that - SCAV... CR... (Scavenging Crew/Crane?) it seems to reference ships being destroyed or (speculating) discarding something (Illicit?) or Modifications. Also rolling 1 additional die.

Stealing upgrades from destroyed ships could be cool but it's probably not that.

The thought of bumping my own ship so I could boost/barrel roll it out of arc is funny to me.

Doesn't work with the phrase of tractor beam tokens. Your opponent moves the ship even though you bumped your own to cause the tractor beam token.

Well no, but up until now we have never had a way to assign a Tractor Beam token to a friendly ship either. If I bump Unkar Plutt into Talonbane Cobra I assign him a TB token and then I boost or barrel roll him.

The exact wording on the reference card in the FAQ is:

"The first time a small ship receives a tractor beam token each round, the opposing player may choose one of the following effects"

The source of the tractor beam has apparently no bearing on the effect as written. This part is important right now, because otherwise Ketsu could use her ability to tractor beam her allies into place (her ability does not specify an enemy ship).

Yup Ketsu Pilot does currently allow you to TB your own ships. The wording for the TB token does explicitly say your opponent chooses how it moves, and does not specify a source. Pending an, in my opinion, unlikely errata, if Unkar bumps his buddy then your opponent absolutely moves your ship for you. Unkar has a great ability on a cheap craft. I'm fine with this, as it creates a small limitation. Bumping him with your own ships is bad for you, but if you block an enemy, it's extra bad for them. Toss on Ketsu crew and double punish them for bumping you, and maybe even block them again! :-D

if the reverse doesn't stress then a Burnout SLAM could be amusing

SLAM illicit is large only sadly.

I dont know why. I dont like it. But it is large only.

Also i could totally see a FAQ clarifying (as in just to shut up any debate since they tend to do that alot with such obvious rule readings anyway) that if you self-tractor, your opponent moves you. Self-tractoring could yield to some rather shady shenanigans, but if your opponent moves it then odds are it wont work right.

Typically if youre touching a ship and you get tractored, you really can only go one way anyway. Problem is if theres a rock there, your opponent will definitely slip you onto it while you'd purposely hug it without touching it. Unkar is going to be a nightmare in a chokepoint lol

Speaking of large bases - it would be really cool if the quadjumper with some special card or pilot ability could somehow tractor large targets and thus BR or Boost them onto rocks.

With Ketsu in tow? :) That's a lot of tractor beam tokens.

Means that if Plutt in a Quadjumper accidentally crashes into one of his own wing hilarity ensues.

Backwards maneuver with Lightning Reflexes would be absolutely hilarious!

i'm guessing 1 straights and banks forward and backwards. That's 6 speed 1 moves.

This is what I want.

...

When "six 1's" was announced, my first thought was the five standard forward plus a 1-straight reverse...

...but this three/three would be much better!

The three forward 1's could be green, with a white 'stop' move, and the three reverses red*.

(* = this appeals to my sense of geometric symmetry balanced with colour asymmetry, but I'd almost prefer the reverses to be white, so you could potentially equip EU and almost do a backwards 3-point turn)

I suspect then it could have red 2-SLoops... (maybe even white!?)

(what if it has all white standard 2's, breaking green's monopoly of the 2 straight!)

Picture shows a green 2 bank.

or something like a...well, kinda 0,25 bank move? (for example, 1 straight bacward + 1 bank boost forward, etc)

I do hope that 3 1's forwards and backwards would be the case, it actuallybgot me way more exxited about the ship. Cheap troll is always welcomed to my squads!

I do like a lot of the 0p EPTs that are slowly introduced for the game, I got nothing agains turning my focus result for critical hit, example Bossk or anyone with Bob Fett crew and it does not specify attack, so secondary weapons do as well.

Quadjumper dial prediction:

1 straight green, bank green and turn

2 straight green, bank and turn

3 straight red

1 reverse straight, bank and turn. All red.

Quadjumper unique mod - Action - assign a Tractor Beam token to a enemy ship within range 1 - 2 and in your primary firing arc. Large ships suffer thr full effects of the Tractor Beam conditions.

Probably a future contender to rival the M3-A Interceptor as worst ship in the game.

Pretty unlikely, it's got the upgrade slots to very versatile even if the statline and dial are only half good.

A blocker who brings out free Tractor Beams? I don't think so :)

2 banks are green.

I'm hoping it might have 1 banks and straight green, white stop, 1 reverse straight and banks red.

But I'm expecting all the 1s forward, and only a straight reverse.

Scum seem to be the best users of tractor beams. Unkarr coupled with Ketsu is going to be disgusting.

Unkar blocks a ship, assigns it a Tractor token, you barrel roll it into range 1 of Ketsu who gives it a second one, fires at it and gives it a third. . .

Or into Asajj's arc, who fires (hopefully hits0, gives him a second one and with Ketsu crew he keeps them to the next round.

Tractor Beamed and stressed?

Defenders would struggle against that, Rebel ships would just not bother deploying.

Ukar with Ketsu crew soounds like he could be hilariously horrible.
