I went to a Hangar Bay tournament last Sunday. The way it works is this. Each person takes 2 squads with them. They each play 3 games, with three different scenarios. At the beginning of each round, you look at your opponents squads, and secretly choose the one you will use.
-Round 1
In the first round, this was the goal.
My opponent's goal: To dock with the shuttle and have that ship last the whole round.
My goal: To destroy the shuttle or let the shuttle move off the board,.
I used Decimator/Whisper
He used Kyle/Poe/Garven
Whisper got blown up in 3 turns, after landing on an asteroid. In the end, my Decimator pulled through. He killed Poe and Garven, and left Kyle all alone, the shuttle flew off the board, securing my first victory!
-Round 2
In the second round, this was the goal.
My opponent's goal: Defend the control point in the middle, and after 6 rounds have the most points within range 1 of the control point.
My goal: To have the most points withing range 1 of the control point.
I used Crackshot, Glitterstim Brobots (B,C)
He used Poe/Ten Numb/Shara
He came right at me, my Bots alternated on each turn. One was doing an S-Loop and the other was doing a green maneuver. This way, I could arc dodge, and he could only attack 1 at a time in different segments. In the end, I was able to destroy Ten and Poe, leaving Shara to lose. After six rounds I won!
-Round 3
In the third round, this was the goal
My opponent's goal: Destroy the oncoming payload ships.
My goal: Escort the 3 payload ships to the end of the board.
I used Decimator/Whipser
He used: Ketsu/Fenn/Pirate
His starfighter was dominating, so much damage for such a small ship. I was able to destroy Ketsu with 4 dice every turn. It was a challenging round, but I won in the end.
My first tournament, and first place! There was 8 people. Overall a very good first tournament for me.
