Anyone End Up Painting Their Space Rocks Station?

By OccasionallyCorrect, in Star Wars: Armada Painting and Modification

I managed to get a set of space rocks items back before they got C&D'd and I've been trying to find some examples of cool paint jobs. Does anyone have one they've painted that they would like to show off?

I touched mine up a little bit:

Is there any way to get some debris like those? Other than smashing some ships into pieces of course :P

I'm working on making my own debris, by chopping up models from Wizards of the Coast's Starship Battles game. The models are cheaper, but the scale is similar. I've never done this sort of thing, so I'm not sure how to realistically turn these little things into burnt-out space wrecks.

To make it as straightforward as possible:

Make your chop marks fairly jagged.

Coat the choppy areas themselves black, and drybrush black in the surrounding areas - starting in your stark area, and moving away (so it looks like a blackened sooty thing).

Drybrush some dark brown into the black area, for a little variation.

Do some spots in the black and brown areas that are Bright Orange and Yellow. Varying those in size and placement, but keeping them mainly spots or tiny areas (the larger the area, the more red->orange->yellow->white gradiant you want) will be fine.

Profit.

No, don't profit. If you profit, then you're in the same realms of Space Rocks, in the fact that you're selling someone elses product and design as your own, even if you have modified it.

So don't profit.

Enjoy.

yes. that's better. Enjoy.

... Although I do wish I had something Armada-Wise that I could chop up and demonstrate with.... But everything is so few and far between as it is... :/
