Do you need 2 x Imperial & Rebel Squadron Packs?

By Jamborinio, in Star Wars: Armada

What is everyone thinking about the new squadron packs coming out? It's hard to tell exactly without knowing all the squadron point costs, but it seems like the Zs are the only squad that would strongly call for more than 1 pack.

Lancers are effectively the closest thing to Rebel Firesprays, and we know how popular they are.

2 Squadrons are an effective number, 3 if you want to do some specialized lists, like Rhymer Ball.

I think you could just buy 1 of each and focus the rest in rogues n villains

I would certainly advise two to start off with. I'd also look to go for three or even four if you want to get really serious about the squadron game.

You're validating my excessive purchases. Thanks.

Without understanding what "Strategic" is, I dunno about the extra ghosts.

Im ambivalent on the Imperials. I don't see the Defender doing anything worthwhile that the Firespray won't do better. The Decimator seems to be a high cost but high quality squad. Not something spammable

For most squadron packs, the same "buy two and go for personal preference" from there applies. I definitely agree with you on the Zs. I think the bigger question is how the new and different upgrades will affect how the squadron upgrades play out. Although we've seen some great builds that require 8 Rogues and Villains, we've seen plenty of great builds that were not even close to that extreme. I'm definitely looking forward to the previews, which I hope happen soon.

I do just fine in competitive play with rebels with two and to be honest I'm usually just playing ones worth, don't listen to some saying you must have two and certainly not three. Also with the new squadrons coming out you will not need that many of anything.

Now imps I could see the of those prior to the announcement of wave five but again now that those are coming there is no need for it.

I only have one of each squadron pack, and I had intended to pick up one more of each, but with the impending Pack IIs, I'm feeling holding off until they come out might be a better option. Especially considering I rarely use the B-wings I actually have.

You are missing out on the b wing fun my friend

I know... and what makes it worse is that I've been a nut for the B-wing since the old X-wing PC game. It's the reason I got into X-wing (as soon as they were announced, I bit and bought core sets in preparation), and my count in that game at the moment is a rather ridiculous six B-wings...

I really should give them a go, but I'm finding it hard to justify buying another pack just to run four B-wings.

I ruin only two often enough. Just slap them on Yavaris

I have 3 of each but I like maxing out my fighters.

I bought two Imperial packs and I am actually considering a third one (for more Interceptors). Not sure what I am going to get for Imperial Fighters 2, but certainly two of each at least.
