Boba Fett in lieu of IG-88?

By SolkaTruesilver, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So i managed to get a group of friends to play Imperial Assault. They are Star Wars fans, but not super obsessive fans. They probably wouldnt know who IG-88 is by name, and would need an explanation/reminder of who it is from the movies ("the robot we see for half a second within the Bounty Hunter group")

If i tell them "and then arrives.. IG-88!" My players might be underwhelmed. Especially as i only have the token.

I got the Boba Fett miniature however. And whatever you may say about the *******, he's got Star Power up the wazoo.

Would it break terribly the scenarios if i put Boba Fett in lieu of IG?

Are you asking about "replacing IG-88's mini with Boba's mini" or "replacing IG-88 completely (mini+cards) with Boba"?

If it's the first one, go ahead

If it's the second one...Boba got speed 6+mobile+3attack dice, IG got speed 5, no mobile+2 attack dice+can attack twice, they fit completely different purposes. I wouldn't recommend it as you might break some of the missions

I second that. If you're just worried about thematic impact, play Boba but give him IG-88's stats and abilities (basically paste his picture over IG-88's on the card and don't change anything else).

What if you were to drop Boba's auto block? That would really help to bring the cost down by one point.

I have replaced IG-88 with boba fett, when he arrived the heroes became focussed, and I gave the rebels 1XP if they defeated him. it worked out ok in the case of balance

Yeah, I'd make the full switch (use Boba's card and figure), because the game is first of all about fun. I really like the idea of giving a free Focus to each hero and maybe adding an extra 1XP if they defeat him too.

I like your idea, and i also really like your avatar in the context of the conversation

To be honest, this could be a good introduction to your friends about who IG-88 is. This game, although it has some big names, is more geared towards interactions with smaller characters and plots that live outside the movies. Think Rogue One.

That's true. IG-88 is actually a pretty cool character, particularly in the Legends. He gets a bad rap, but the guy basically hacked the Death Star II, and if the Rebels hadn't taken it down he could've been a huge threat to all organic life in the galaxy. I think he might be worth introducing to your friends, particularly given the nature of his acquisition mission.
