Using upgrades on their respective expansions

By Muelmuel, in Star Wars: Armada

Thought I would throw this out here. Seems FFG so far has included upgrade cards in each expansion that might work or were intended to at least work with the ship in that expansion.

However are there any cards/combinations that have been left out/ not utilised in the face of all the popular combinations that arise from having multiple expansions?

has FFG placed any cards that are not useful/weird to the ship expansion?

Right now the one I can't figure out is the combination of FC and FCT with the Interdictor

So it can push around the 666 maybe?

I'm disappointed with the H9 on the CR90A, which is also in the artwork for the card. Unfortunately it remains a virtually worthless combination.

I'm hoping for something to make it viable as opposed to the standard TRC, something like a title that allows accuracy results to also add a hit.

Personally I would just like FFG to put popular upgrades on at least 2 expansions (one for the rebels and one for the empire) like they did for intel officer, comms net, bomber command center, ECM, and gunnery team. By popular upgardes I mean: TRC, X17, APT, spinal armement, advanced projector.

They'll get to it. The games only been out for a reletively short time and they have to balance reprinting popular old cards with releasing new stuff.

To the OP, if I understand your question right, in x-wing they frequently release cards that CAN be equipped to the ship they come with, but are clearly meant to be more useful/powerful/fix a different ship. Only very rarely has an upgrade not been usable at all on the ship it was packaged with.

There are going to be duds, however. They only have a limited amount of time to playtest all the possible combinations and so e stuff just isn't going to work as well as they thought.

Its amazing! Add a couple of TAs to block space and you have a squad clearing machine. Ships only speed two anyway...

I would like to believe you, but if you had some sort of source or proof that would be awesome , thanks.

I find your Lack of Faith Disturbing....

I (believe) there is another FCT coming in the Pelta.

Yes, there is a Flight Coordination Team in the Pelta.

However, that is only half the Combination.

The other half is "Flight Commander."

Now, that being said, there is still an Unrevealed Face-Down officer card in the Pelta Spread that may be the Flight Commander as well... But we simply do not know at the miment.

This is true, assuming the announcement post is correct.

We can also point to the inclusion of alt cards in recent tournament kits for popular upgrades leading shots and Xi7's.

That said, there's still plenty of popular upgrades that only exist in one expansion. Major culprits being APT's, TRC's, Flight Controllers, I think Expanded Hangers is in both the core and the Vic but thats still technically only one explansion. Probably missed something. Xi7's still only come in the Neb but they are easy to grab now on ebay.

Yeah for 15 bucks, much rather buy a neb for 20.^^

With the full art promos from the summer kit available in such large quantities, you can easily find them for $2 apiece, and in the nice full art version at that.

I'm seeing them there right now for $3

Just the evidence of precedence. X-wing had the same issue early on, really good cards that were only available in a particular ship of one faction. But gradually they included copies of popular cards in ships from the other faction. The most famous example is the x-wing upgrade "push the limit". For the first 3-4 waves it was only available in the a-wing expansion (which only had 1 copy), despite it being massively wanted by imperial players for their TIE Interceptors. A few waves later they came out with Imperial Aces which included 2 copies of the card. They do stuff like that all the time. In fact, FFG have been amazingly responsive to player desires like that. C3PO ended up being a really powerful card that was only available in a $100 epic ship, so they made an alternate art card given out for free at tournaments. And so on.
