Murne's solidarity move trigger

By RenoShinra, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

What triggers Murne's solidarity portion that gains movement points?

1. Using a move action to gain movement points.

2. Using surge to gain movement points.

3. Jyn's opportunist ability that allows her to move one space after attacking.

I ruled that only the move action triggers it as the wording on solidarity states that performing a move is what triggers it. We stuck to this ruling, however my players want to see other source confirming the timing.

The trigger is "performs a move". Performing a move can come from the Move action or from Gideon's Command (if the target figure performs a move instead of performing an attack), and possibly some mission events that lets a rebel hero perform a move.

Gaining movement points by other methods or moving spaces are not performing a move and thus are not triggers for Solidarity.

Can it triggers more than once per activation per player? (-> other player make to move actions, it means Murne gains 4 move point?)

It resolves after the action trigger happens or during, like an interrupt? (-> player takes move action. Moves. Than Murne moves. OR player takes the action. Murne interrupt to gain 2 move points and MUST USE IT NOW.)

TYVM in advance.

a1bert, can you please clarify how Solidarity works with Fenn's Tactical Movement?

If Fenn is 5 spaces away from Murne, can he give the two movements points to himself to move two space and then use his first action to move and therefore to trigger Murne's Solidarity or Fenn's movement points will have to be part of his initial movement and therefore Solidarity will not trigger?

I am still not clear about Fenn's Tactical Movement. Can Fenn give the two movement points to himself to move two spaces forward and then perform two actions (two attacks) or does Tactical Movement mean that Fenn can only use his movement points if one of his actions is going to be Move?

Fenn can give himself 2 movement points to spend at any time in his activation (or give to another hero to spend immediately). It does not require him to perform a move, so he will have two actions to use on anything.

Murne's ability is dependent on a hero performing a move though, so if she was near Fenn, and he used Tactical Movement, it wouldn't count to her Solidarity, because he didn't perform a move.

In your example, that is valid, he gets 2 to move near Murne, and now that he is within her range for Solidarity he performs a move and she gets two movement points. She would move first though, because it's gaining movement points outside her activation.

Movement points given to another figure by Tactical Movement must be spent immediately, because they are received out of that figure's activation.

If Fenn takes the movement points himself, they go into his movement point pool. He can spend them to move up to 2 spaces, and then perform the Move action. If he's now within 3 spaces of Murne, she gets to trigger Solidarity, gains 2 mp, which she has to spend immediately.

Spending movement points has nothing to do with the Move action, and everything about having movement points to spend.

There are other sources for movement points than the Move action (which allows to perform a move). A hero can suffer 1 strain to gain 1 movement point up to twice per activation. Tactical Movement is an ability giving movement points. Mobile Tacticial (Gideon) gives Gideon movement points when he performs a Command.

Note that Solidarity only activates when a hero performs a move (either through the Move action, or Command from Gideon allowing a figure to perform a move .)

Edit: Move action -> allows to perform a move -> performing a move gives movement points according to Speed.
Gaining movement points does not move the figure, spending movement points moves the figure.

On that matter, in that example, Fenn could move the two spaces to Murne and perform a move. She would gain two movement points and have to spend them immediately. If this takes Murne out of the three space range, Fenn could then spend one or two of his movement points gained, come into range, and perform move again. This would again give Murne two movement points to spend immediately. And then Fenn can spend his remaining 6 or 7 points gained from the two moves depending how many he spent to catch up with Murne.
