Unkar Plutt: Making the JM5k, et al, that much better

By Rinzler in a Tie, in X-Wing

The Dauntless title comes to the Scum faction but for one point - and a bit dangerous (damage instead of stress).

Now you can justify throwing Deadeye, Torpedoes, and Extra Munitions on the Jump and blasting yourself willy-nilly into combat. The no stress is actually great since the emergence of BMST.

Feedback Array feels good, as always.

But then I thought about it... Push the Limit?

Why not? Bump. Barrel roll. Target Lock or Focus. Damage. Stress. Whoah. Now we're in range-1. No Plasmas or Protons - unless they're Advanced! Wham.

Round this 36-point U-Boat out with Over-Clocked R4 and Guidance Chips and Unkar has got a pretty deadly whip.

Discuss. And now that I'm thinking about it, what else can we put this fat, fleshy Watto on? The Caster, surely...

YV666. Dengar/K4, unkar crew.

eh...

honestly, I feel the crew is just garbage

stupidly limited in application, helps your opponent kill yourself and it's competing for the same slot and point cost as 4-lom/zuckuss/boba

to hazard a guess, you will probably never see him even in casual games not because casual games care about how competitive a card is, but because he just doesn't do a whole lot

****, you know what the final nail in the coffin is?

you can't even bump into your own ships

not that it isn't completely understandable that FFG would want to step lightly around a card that kind of invalidates blocking, which is the main method your opponent has of countering your plays (even if people keep forgetting blocking exists)

but still, that just results in an underwhelming card that I can't even foresee niche use for.

and the worst thing about Plutt crew? You can't take his sexy pilot version

YV666. Dengar/K4, unkar crew.

Edit: Wrote this thinking you meant Dengar pilot.

If you're running Pain Bot Dengaroo then you don't want Unkar on Dengar. That's a lot points to spend on a Kamikaze who can't even take actions (RE: Zuckuss).

YV-666.. Unless it's Bossk with Engine I don't know. Maybe Target Lock to Homing Missiles?

I have to disagree. It's a couple extra points to put your Bumpmasters on steroids.

Feedback Array has been widely successful on these big Scum ships and now, instead, you take a damage to shoot your Torps.

shoot your torps at whom? the ship you bumped?

that's feedback array what bypasses normal attack restrictions (also doesn't care about your firing arc), not plutt

Did you miss the barrel roll, target lock combo from PtL where you're then in range one to attack the ship you bumped?

Will agree though, that the enemy ship restriction is killer.

With Deadeye, how do you get that Focus if you use your action to Barrel Roll?

With PTL, how do you get that Focus to modify these dice if you use your actions to Barrel Roll and TL?

no mods then, apart from g-chips and protorps

still more than likely within range 1 so protorps are a no go

not enough mods to enable adv pro-torps, which kinda suck regardless

If you Target Lock the round before, you'll have your focus to modify, plus chips.

If you Target Lock the round before, you'll have your focus to modify, plus chips.

Then you also spend a round not shooting torps, which kind of invalidates the point of using torpscouts. I am sceptical, though maybe in some edgecases that build might work.

If you Target Lock the round before, you'll have your focus to modify, plus chips.

as if jumps could take LRS

I don't think it's unreasonable to target lock preemptively. You could PtL that turn, too, to focus (for defense) or BMST (if Feedback ain't your thing).

Especially if you do it during a round when you're blocking.

It's not like I'm saying this is the new Meta but I think it will see table time. If you ask me, it's the PS 3 that is the worst part about him on a Scout - not the totally unlikely, edge-case niche situation (which it's not, imo).

This gives Triple U-Boat and Bumpmasters another option for their crew slot, as Fett is losing his appeal, it seems to me.

If he was zero points he would be so much better. At zero points he would be a nice filler for when your at 100 points. That's what Chopper's there for, right?

Is Dengar your bumpmaster? Because otherwise you move, barrel roll off the ship you bumped and then it moves and your chances of having a shot drop dramatically.

If Dengar is your bumpmaster...I dunno, going all-in on a PS9 APT carrier could work, I guess, but seems more prone to failure than Dengaroo or just giving Dengar the title and a proton or plasma with or without EM.

I think we have to see the other pilots of the Quadjumper. Maybe there's someone who do something when you bump an enemy. Crew and pilots actually works together (see 4-Lom pilot+Zuckus crew, and vice-versa..is not new for ffg).

The Dauntless title is very underrated on the Decimator so I think Unkar is a bit under appreciated at the moment.

Higher PS would be a plus, but this is something that could be really effective against enemy Party Buses.

Not to mention, if you are ballsy enough to put it on Dengar, Unkar mitigates getting blocked into a kill-box. Or Manaroo, but she wants Rec Spec.
