MOAR SHRIMPS!!

By Ardaedhel, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Ard, your list looked so fun and anti-meta that I had to try out something similar. This is what I ran against my buddies ISD/ 3 goz rhymerball list: Dropped it to 6 activations as no one here besides me runs above 4, and that gave me points to kit out two shrimps as flotilla/small ship hunters, and two that could endure crossing through dangerous arcs when going after big ships. Comms net flotilla is assigned to support each pair. Four double evades backed by Mothma is no joke, especially with all those shields ready to soak any damage that isn't evaded. I killed everything besides one gozanti (woulda had it if we had one more turn), while losing nothing of my own. You came up with something pretty sweet here, and I'm excited to see how it does against the rest of my meta.

Thinking of swapping Walex out for an Intel officer, what do you think?

What is this list witg no squads doing vs ISD Demo Rymer? Can u get in and get out without losing more than 1 ship?

So, finally got a chance to run it against Rhymer tonight, with my current iteration of the list (below). Tabled him on Turn 6; lost Mothma and a cheaper MC30, but I made up all the points by controlling Fire Lanes for 4 turns to his 0. Unfortunately not an ISD/Demo, but it was a pretty rough counter for me: Konstantine VVIn with Interdictor/Targeting Scramblers and a giant Rhymer ball.

He piled the FL tokens on one side; I put MM in the opposite corner, forcing him to choose between a chance at killing her or the ability to take the Firing Lanes. The bait worked and he went for MM, leaving the objectives to my one 30 which camped them turns 1-4. My other three charged him, forcing three double arcs onto one VSD on Turn 2--it withered despite TS support, and I dropped massive damage on the other two before zooming past.

The middle phase of the game was where the bombers made their money: I turned the 30's hard to get a second pass while Rhymer poured fire into them, popping one cheap one and damaging Lando substantially. At the end of 4 Lando got wheeled around, leapt past the Rhymer ball for a double arc into the rear of Konstantine's VSD while the objective camper kicked up from speed 2 to 4 to jump to the fight.

On turn five, Konstantine went down hard, neutering Rhymer's threat; the objective camper dropped a double arc into the wounded Interdictor after Interdictor finally ran down Mon Mothma's life boat, and paid for it with Interdictor's life on Turn 6.

The flotillas spent the game stalling activations and adding insult to injury.

OOoooooh, how has someone managed to fit a proper Rhymerball into the VVI list?

Just to be clear, that's VVInterdictor.

He sacrificed squadron cover to fit it. Would've gotten torn up against fighters.

Sigh

I have been trying to do it, and cant get it to fit.

A VVI rhymerball or VVI with squad cover? The second one is doable, I have a list that I tried against a rebel bomber swarm and it was very effective

Yeah, me too. The points just aren't there in anything I've built yet...

Oh hey, missed this. Glad I could inspire you, I always love seeing other people's takes on my lists.

I like it a lot. I don't think you need IO at all with the two H9's and massed fire. I've never been really big on Blistex myself, but admonition is the right place to put him if you're gonna take him. Maybe consider SFO on everything but the Lando ship, if you're looking to replace Blistex with offensive punch.

I really wish I could afford to drop that third flotilla in mine, but the activations and deployments are so precious to me...

Flew this again vs. my other buddy and his ISD/Doctor/Glad list. Total route. The activations allowed me to keep out of range and then line up the perfect kill shot on demo (h9's ftw) before he could do any real damage. Then Lando AND Admonition found themselves at medium range in the ISD's front arc, and they both survived with two damage cards. Admonition escaped, Lando was not so lucky. Tabled him on turn 4 while only losing Lando. This list is scary dangerous. Have yet to test it against a hardcore bomber wing but I see very few weaknesses beyond a 2-dice bomber swarm

I ended up replacing Walex with IO and it is nice to strip a brace from a big ship or a scatter from flotilla

No XI7, I assume? (and/or ISD1)

Pretty much the only way for this to happen with Admonition. Lando, I've seen it, but Admonition is weak against single large attacks like that.

Or no Leading Shots + a bad roll.

That's exactly why I usually separate Lando and Admonition if running more than one shrimp. Both of those cards provide the greatest defense against huge attacks (Lando moreso), just in case I get caught with my pants down. Lando is my go-to sacrifice play that also just might make it.

XI7 on an ISD 2 with leading shots. Rolls were average and the shrimps were previously untouched so were able to handle the volleys. With the combination of Mothma's buff and Admo/Lando they were each able to drop it to a survivable 6 damage (4 to shields and two to hull). Admonition then squeaked by and slipped right in between the ISD and 'Dictor. Lando was not so lucky as I had nowhere that he could reach beyond the death arc
