The Undodgable Scyk

Ok, I am trying to think of ways to make the Scyk useful. (An almost impossible task)

Pretty stinkin good! I'd be scared of four of those. I think people might see it coming a mile away, though, and stay at range 2-3.

Except, good luck getting PS5 into range 1 where these weapons are effective. Otherwise, they are nothing more than a 25 point ship that's worse than a Green Squadron A-Wing.

It'll work really well against people who don't really know how to beat it.

Still pops like a TIE fighter before it gets anywhere near R1.

I think you don't really understand the term "undodgable" Sure this can stop agility tanks IF it gets it within range 1 and in arc but it is not UNDODGABLE as its dial can't keep up with boosting and barrerolling TIE Interceptors.

Hadn't thought of the Fearlessness Autoblaster combo. I'd be more inclined to put it on another ship though: maybe the Firespray or Aggressor.

Still doesn't have boost or speed 5....what sort of interceptor can't do either or both of those??

Scyks suffer from a few things. One is their maneuverability. Two is actions. In this action fueled economy why even pick one. Three only 3 green dice with not much for modifier. (No token stacks, no auto thrusters, or anything that helps keep them alive, and four arc dodgers and defenders/uboats/etc are going to eat them and spit them out. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if you lose at least 1 a round.

Ways to improve them? I posted a thread as a start. I think for now mind link and a hlc, or mangler is the way to go. Have one ship with mindlink do his focus, and then all scyks get their evade action or barrel roll if it gets ya out if arc. Surprisingly it helped them some in a game I had the other night, but truthfully it's still not enough imo.

You have fearlessness on there. Good luck getting all those stars lined up. Plus the autoblaster turret, again with their speed, and if your opponent is any good, you'll be lucky to get a shot off. Run four of them, maybe you'll get one, but it's definitely not a winning squad. Not yet.

Don't know what kind of Scyks you've been flying Krynn, but I find tgeir dial pretty **** good. Certainly better than a lot of other ships out there.

Their dial isn't bad, but it's not great. For what they are suppose to do. Ordnance carrier or canon, they go rather fast with no 1 straight. Running the with a hlc for example you don't want to be going fast, mangler canon doesn't really matter, but the faster you get into range 1 also the faster they die.

Anyway I said their maneuverability, in which I mean they can't reposition like an interceptor (yet they are called interceptors) they can't do a 5 straight either, (imo not a good interceptor) to help with hit and runs. They aren't arc dodgers, so they must be more for jousting, like a tie fighter which is part of the problem once you load them up. They die just like a 12 pt ship, but can cost 24-27pts very easily if you equip a canon on them. I don't even see a reason to use one if your not running some kind of gun on them.

So anyway I never said their dial sucks. Not sure where you get that, but they are not overly maneuverable. If your barrel rolling with them, again no actions to help defend, and they'll die very fast. Expensive for blockers unless your running them naked, but again, why not just fly a z95 scum for 12 pts?

As I said in a post I made earlier today, I've flown them a few times and against them, and they always seemed to die very fast. However mind link I've found does help, but it's not quite enough. A new title and or mod I think can make them more playable.

As it is now they are to expensive naked, and adding a title makes them even more over cost, and then a big gun or something, only to have it go boom before it shoots, or no modifiers by the time it does

I flown this list. Drop the Fearlessness and add Mindlink. There are quite a few people who have been undone with this list. Remember evade with everyone and focus with the guy farthest behind.

To me, the autoblaster canon just isn't worth the effort. At least with my luck. If anything I end up rolling crits, or Nothing at all. Meaning in the end of things I'm probably doing less dmg where as if I had something else
