Hi Everyone,

I'm starting a new campaign with people who haven't played before and was trying to write a short character guide to help them pick a hero now that there are so many of them. I'm going to go easy on them so picking the optimum party is not a concern here, but I do want them to feel like the character they picked actually plays the way they expect, so that no one regrets their choice. We're doing Twin Shadows so the campaign won't be long, but I want them to be happy with their choice and be excited to play more in the future.

Anyway, I'll be adding character pictures so they can visualize the character, but please let me know any recommended tweaks to these descriptions. Especially for Jyn - I'm not sure what else she does besides shoot things. Thanks!

Jyn also runs around while shooting. But yeah she pretty much just shoots things.

Thats a pretty good idea, If you made it pretty and printable you would have a winner!

I actually have it in a table in a Word doc so it looks pretty neat. I'll post it when I have the descriptions finalized.

You da man!

Mak: also does high single target damage, but can be an objective competed with the help of expertise.

Jyn: also can be objective competed. Half her abilities are about movement.

Fenn: can be a regen tank

Saska: attribute tests are her specialty. She makes them a breeze (so long as she's healthy)

Some changes I'd recommend:

Biv:

Close Combat

Single Target Damage

Tank

Davith:

Close Combat

Mobility

Jyn:

Ranged Damage

Mobility

Mak:

Sniper

Single Target Damage

Loku:

Sniper

Support

Thanks for the feedback everyone! So far I've made the following changes. My players don't know the rules so I had to use terms they'd understand like Skill Tests instead of Attribute Tests.

Might want to note that mak and loku focus on different aspects of sniping: loku is range while mak is high damage, death of the enemy regardless of armor

Interesting. I was thinking of sniping in terms of drawing LOS to key figures, which I think both have ways to do. I should probably clarify that.

You might say Loku is a sniper/spotter with his ability to let others to become snipers.

Loku's +2 range doesn't make him a sniper, it makes him better able to use a pistol. If all it took was +2 accuracy, everyone with the barrel mod would be a sniper.

He's supposed to be a semi-support character as most of his abilities are to boost other character's damage, give defense or open crates. He is Hoth's version of Saska and his abilities are very similar, often slightly more powerful... however the compensation is that he only has 2 tokens... which completely gimps him to being worse than Saska as he has 4 different things he wants to do with those 2 tokens, but can't, so ends up being a very weak character. The description you need for Loku is "don't take him, he sucks."

Well as I said, this is not going to be a competitive game and I think of sniper as someone who can ignore LOS to pick out key targets. I do like the idea of calling him a spotter though, as that makes a lot of sense with his abilities.

That would make Jynn a sniper. Her trickshot is far more useful than ignoring figures because usually the thing blocking LOS is a corner.

I can see how Loku may have been INTENDED to be a support sniper with his ability to shoot before an enemy attacks or moves, but the fact that Overwatch requires 1 of his 2 counters makes it pretty bad so it doesn't get taken or used much. 2 XP for the ability to bank attacks for a better time isn't bad. 2 XP and losing the use of other abilities is awful.

These are pretty spot on for beginning players. They also keep away from minutiae that experience can bring. Would have been very helpful for our first game, before we understood the mechanics.

Jyn's specialty is she's a counter type. The opponent makes the moves, she gets to counter their results.

Great idea. Please keep it updated.

Fantastic idea. I always have trouble with Rebels picking their characters.
