Mini trophy plaques for ship names
Those look pretty awesome, mate! Lets see... There is one trick I remember for filling in dice and even for things like fine writing on scale models and such (I saw it for an E-11) Crayon. Take a white crayon and colour it in like that, then make sure the facing it free of residue after. Should turn out great. You may also be able to use something like a white enamel paint, thinned down, and just run it in like that and clean the outside with mineral spirits.
Where'd ya get 'em at, if you don't mind me asking. Hmmm, any thoughts as to the backing to make 'em really stick in the sockets?
Edited by VykesCheers mate! I will give the crayon idea a try first.
Ordered them off "the bay", and were only £1 each. Just search for 30mm engraved plaque, and you should find a few options.
I was either going to stick them to some 3mm poly-board and cut around it, then paint the board black. This makes them stand upright. Or, to put a drop of glue top and bottom so they fit at an angle like in the above picture. Still unsure though really.
Those really look nice.............wish I could do that but have to settle for paper. I have many ships etc, so the cost would be hard for me.
I'm struggling to make the letter stand out to be honest. Crayons don't work as the engraving is not deep enough. Ultra fine sharpie shopping tomorrow.
Looks bloody grand, mate! I'm going to have to give that a whirl soon enough.
Thanks mate. Just try not to make mine look too crappy when you go all out! They look a bit big on the small based ships, but not too bad. Need a solution for the Squadrons now.
Edited by DedmanzhandI think those look killer! I wasn't sold when they were bare metal, but dang they cleaned up nice.
Yes, very nice indeed, the lettering stands out well.
Any thought to making it double sided, so your opponent can see the names too?
Still working on it, but not sure I want them to see my ISD is called "INVINCIBLE" as it might become even more of a target, haha
