Concord Dawn Protector Title vs. Zuckuss or Omega leader

By Mace Windu, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Had this come up last night, Shooting with the Party Bus at Fenn Rau, and wasn’t quite sure what happens when.

The concord Dawn title states:

When defending, if you are inside the attacker's firing arc and at Range 1, and the attacker is inside your firing arc, add 1 Evade result.

Now as far as I am aware adding a dice is considered modifying the die results, but at the same time it seems to me that you add the result when you roll the dice and at that point could be altered by Zuckuss.

I'm 99% sure that regardless of when the added die result happens Omega Leader shuts it down, but I'm just not certain on the Zuckuss interaction. I'm leaning toward the evade result being added just after you roll the dice as there is a lot of similarities with C-3PO, but as the wording is not exactly the same there's more than enough doubt for both options to be the answer. As I asked in the main Forum our countries nationals event is next weekend and no FAQ is in sight so hoping to get some direction of this issue.

Omega Leader definitely shuts it down. Adding a die result is a type of modification.

The title triggers during the "Defender modifies defense dice" step, which is AFTER the "Attacker modifies defense dice" step. So the title happens after Zuckuss. Therefore, Zuckuss is NOT allowed to re-roll the evade granted by the title.

In the strictest of reading of the rules I think you might be right, the only other similar instances I could find were the text on the Advanced Targeting Computer for the TIE Advanced and the rules relating to the reinforce action for epic ships, both of which specifically state to "add X result to your roll".

So were the Concord Dawn Title to have said "add 1 Evade result to your roll" it would have been clear cut, one could potentially argue that there's not enough space on the title card for the extra text and the current text is shorthand for adding the result to your roll but that’s quite a stretch.

At this stage (barring any formal FAQ clarification) I will assume the worst and that the additional evade is added after the Zuckuss.

Why does the presence or absence of the words "to your roll" matter at all? What else could you possibly be adding an evade result to other than your roll?

Adding results is listed as a type of modifying dice in the rulebook. Therefore, the title must trigger during the normal modify step. C-3P0 is only different because it has "before you roll", which specifies a different timing explicitly.

Interesting, I had heard that you could use juke against reinforce as you add to the roll but I'm not typically interested in epic so I never looked it up, and I'm so used to seeing players with ATC add the criteria result immediately after they roll that I never gave it a second look

I agree with EdgeOfDreams. Any added results are added during the modify attack/defence dice steps. With players using ATC, they should be adding the crit result after the defender has had a chance to modify the attack dice, not at the moment they roll the dice. You may have to retrain a few guys, Mace. :)
