Bretonnia

By David Spangler, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

My family and I are huge fans of Arthurian lore, so for us a favorite part of the Warhammer universe was Bretonnia, loosely based on such lore. It's a bit disappointing to see no provision for including this in WFRP3, so I'm wondering, Jay, if you have plans for a Bretonnia supplement allowing for Bretonnian characters and careers, gods and goddess (i.e. the Lady), Damsels, Grail Knights, and all the rest. Otherwise, we are planning our first full-fledged game this week during the Holidays, and there's a lot of excitement here about this new system.

Anyone else like to see Bretonnia included or wish it had been included?

Yes of course. I thought it would be in the box for amount of money! preocupado.gif

The truth has been spoken.

At the meantime Knights of the Grail (for WFRP2) serves the purpose quite handsomly. There weren't lots of game mechanics in that book so it should be usable. Virtues on another hand are a different thing (as I suspect that you were after those?). It shouldn't be too hard to convert the ones in KotG for "special slot"-cards for WFRP3. I would see them mostly as fortune dices anyway.

I'm hoping that this is one of the first supplements they work on. I'm sure something "Empire" will be first, but I'm hoping this is SOON after. I always wanted more elf in WFRP2, but they fixed that with the base set. The Grail Knights will be fun indeed.... and herrimaults.. and maybe even grail damsels!!!

I was not disappointed that Bretonnia was not included, I kinda expected that much. Both Bretonnia and Kislev deserve their own box. Which I suspect will be among the future supplements for WHFRP. it would be too much to handle in one box. Even in 2nd edition they came as different books.

So yeah, I look forward for when they will be released. Only then I think we will have the careers like the squire and knight.

I thought Bretonnia was France and Albion was England.

That's basically the case.

But, think of Bretonnia as France during the height of the Middle Ages, complete with Plate-wearing Knights, lowly surfs, and bickering noble fops. Into that mix is sprinkled some Arthurian lore, like the Lady of the Lake, among other things.

Albion, while England, is more like England prior to the arrival of Christianity. It's a place steeped in old Druidic lore and most folk are split into a variety of tribes. They're quite primitive compared to the Empire and Bretonnia, lacking heavy armor and gunpowder weapons.
