Just wondering when we should expect the next map to be announced. Are they announced every three months? And are we expecting Training Ground to be phased out?

As to the new map, any guesses as to what it will be? My thought is that they'll time this with the release of Jabba's Realm and choose one of its maps (bring on the sarlacc!!!). But then that would require both Hoth (assuming Leia's map isn't the one phased out) and Jabba's Realm to be tournament legal, unless you buy their maps, and they might avoid that.

Sorry this is so open ended, but I was wondering what everyone else thought about this.

My bet is Hangar Bay (Greedo)

I would guess at a Bespin map, if following recent maps then likely one of the Bespin linked expansions like Bossk, Lando, Blaise, ISB's etc. We were expecting a Bespin map last time round as they coincided with the release but they went for the Bantha Rider and surprised everyone. I imagine this time round though they will push it.

If it is Bespin I think it will be Bespin Tibanna Facility. The map they replace Training Grounds with need to have at least one mission that is mainly about killing your opponent as the primary (or only) vp source, Deception game plays that role at present. Having one such mission keeps builds more balanced.

Most of the Bespin maps are quite gimmicky and have rules which I think will slow turns down significantly. Bossk's map gives too much advantage to someone running Under Duress so I can't see that one being brought in.

Hangar Bay only requires the core set, which keeps casual players happier. This also means the rotation still only requires one additional set, I think when Nelvaanian rotates out we will see another box rotate in but not before. It could easily be something from the Jabba Wave.

I expect some people will be a bit miffed about having such a small amount of time with the playmat for Training Grounds. It is a really lovely, well designed mission tho.

I think Pidgeon makes some good points - I'd just add that I think the next mission may end up being less door-heavy (like Cantina was). At present - at least in my experience - it's a little tricky to make the melee-heavy lists work. Cats and Wampas just can't get around all the doors at present!

as there was always a new faq + map for Gencon and worlds in the past...i assume there will be a new faq plus rotation 2 weeks before worlds...but just a guess

Cool. Yeah, I was expecting it to be soon, but I wasn't sure when they did it in the past.
