I think he was being sarcastic, the tournament was basically all Dengaroo + Palp Aces with various flavours of TIE Defenders.

There is a single gimicky Rebel list of 2x Lothal Rebel in the top 16...

Hmm I think there is a small mistake in listjuggler, pretty the sure the winner had Ryad/Vessery/glaive (all crack/x7) and not Maarek Stele. But yeah, there were lots of defenders and dengaroo's.

The championship game was 100-0 because the second place player gave up. But it was a really really close game, were if the defender that was foccussed down (Ryad) would have gone down, the game would probably have been for Soontir/Inquisitor.

All in all it was a great tournament!

Post R4 Aggromech timing change? I wouldn't, I think Dengaroo is much more difficult to beat especially if you're running Imperial Aces.

The only time I could see triple jump masters being more scary (relative to Dengaroo) is if I was running something like Decimator/ace or doubl decimator.

I'm assuming the jump to PS 7 is the main draw (especially with so many PS 6 Col. Vesserys in attendance), but I'm wondering how often his ability triggered in a useful way?

Having played against a very strong opponent using stele, it happens often enough to be noteworthy, but ultimately Maarek can't out k-turn ryad.

I think the glaive is the most important piece of the puzzle here, because it gives a 3rd attack with more time on target than a shuttle. Easier to strip tokens and go for the kill against palp defenders this way.

Anyone notice the quad TLTs in 22nd place?

Only two Bots lists out of 81 lists? Thats interesting to me. Also interesting that they placed 53 and 54. Neither list is one i would personally fly however.

Interesting to see that Bossk/88b build sneak into the top 16. Gives me hope maybe we could see Moralo-88 do some work in the future.

Rebel Regen also fears the spike damage of the Triple U-boats torpedoes. Against Dengaroo I can see the regen droids having sufficient time to keep the Rebel Aces alive.

I noticed a fair number of Triple U-boat lists in there but not nearly as many as at the start of the summer. /x7 Defenders are a pretty good counter to U-boats and the development of Dengaroo has impressed many Scum players. I think this migth provide a sufficient opening to allow Rebel regen back into the meta but only time will tell.
