Newbie Imp fleet only ships

By Vondodo, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I am a newbie gamer i wonder if this list could work:

EMPIRE FLEET 399/400

1 • Imperial II-class Star Destroyer - Imperial-class Star Destroyer (120) - Grand Moff Tarkin (38) - Electronic Countermeasures (7) - Heavy Turbolaser Turrets (6)
• Total : 171 • Code : e14c1d1t5

2 • Gladiator II-class Star Destroyer - Gladiator-class Star Destroyer (62) - Engine Techs (8) - Insidious (3)
• Total : 73 • Code : e6s3f13

3 • Victory II-class Star Destroyer - Victory-class Star Destroyer (85) - Overload Pulse (8)
• Total : 93 • Code : e2i1

4 • Raider II-class corvette - Raider class corvette (48) - NK-7 Ion Cannons (10) - Impetuous (4)
• Total : 62 • Code : e24i4f22

And if Yes could you help me choosing some objectives ?

Greetings.

Your ISD is just fine however I'd drop the Glad, Raider and especially the Victory down to the mk1 variants - this will save you a bunch of points. Also NK7's are a very expensive upgrade for a ship as fragile as the Raider so you'd be better served losing them or tranferring them onto the ISD.

With the saved points (off the top of my head 22pts) you can throw some Ordinance Experts onto the three ships throwing black dice to help them push through damage (especially in the case of the Raider where the OE will also effect your anti-squadren shooting).

I would at least try to add Gunnery Teams on ISD2. I would also think about adding a Gozanti to get to 5 activations/deployment.

Ion Cannon on the raider is maybe a bit to much. See it this way. 10 points on a 48 points ship is really a lot.

I love the combination Neda + Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (TRC). This give the VSD some really hard hitter. The double redirect token does not help at all in the long run. But the evade might.

Try out the Gladiator I with the Demolisher Titel (yes, i know, Meta bla bla... ;) ).

About the objectives:

Always check who profit most of these objectives. If your fleet is not one of them, dont pick it (Superior Possitions for example). The only question is if the opponent has a fleet that can profit out of one. But because he can choose out of three, it can really happen. So dont use an objective that could end in a ugly backfire.

Red (Assault Objective):
Advanced Gunnery: Good choice with the ISD. Most will not pick this, because an ISD, with a double attack on the same ship, will really hurt.

Precision Strike: You have no bombers, and the ships will most likely do the damage instead of flipping up a card. And this one can really fast end in a backfire, when the opponent has a few X-Wings.

Opening Salvo: This one could be really good. If you have a lot of ships with red dice. But with only 4 ships, and one of them without red dice? Not good. It can end in a disaster when the opponent has a few CR90 with TRC

Most Wanted: Because you have a Raider (if you turn it down to a raider I without many upgrades), you could use this one. You pick your 44 Point raider and his expensive huge ship (if he has one). But it is really bad when your opponent has a swarm list with only cheap ships. You have no gain anymore from this, and your opponent will just pick it.

Yellow (Defense Objective):

Contested Outpost: Really good for your ships. You can place the ISD and VSD on the station, and let the opponent come to you. Just make sure you will get the 20 points for sure in the first 3 rounds.

Fleet Ambush: You are lacking enough punsh for this objective. He can just fly out, or worse, use it to engage you faster. if he has squadrons he will even be in fire range on the first turn.

Fire Lanes: really good objective for the fleet. You can just stay behind the tokens and collect all 3 for the first rounds. Your opponent will be fored to attack. And you can flank them with the Raider and Gladiator. it is even possible to drop the speed to 0 to stay behind the tokens.

Hyperspace Assault: No squadrons and no hard hitter that can fly alone behind the enemy. And another drawback: the opponent has the first activation after you come out of hyperspace. So he could even fly out of your range.

Blue (Navigation Objective):

Inte Sweep: The best choice of all the navigate objectives (for your list). You can use the raider and try to grap the 3 token as fast as possible. Using a ship with 44 points (or even 62 in your case) to get 75 Points "might" be worth it.

Minefields: I really dont like this one. It does not offer anything but placing the obstacles and trying to force your opponent to a special possition. But if he does not agree on it, and flies throught the minefield, your whole plan is messed up. If someone has only a few big ships, he could just trigger the mines and repair the damage after this. And Squadrons dont care for the mines. So Rogue Squadrons could just fly through and go in your flank.

Superior Positions: no way without squadrons. You will not get behind the enemy to deal this much damage. And every opponent with squadrons will take it, and kill you will victory tokens.

Dangerous Territory: Could work. But you need to pick one ship to try to steal the victory tokens if you want them. If not you might get the same number as the opponent, means no gain for you. The only bonus in this case is that you can fly over obstacles and he get damage from it. But i would as well say no with your list.

After all the blue navigation objectives look like your problem. You have no clear winner on these. On Red i would pick Advanced Gunnery, on Yellow the Fire Lanes (more Victory Points per turn),

But blue is hard. And, depending on your opponents fleet, it might be that this one is always be picked. You could use the minefield, and hope your opponent dont want to fly into it.

What could you change to the list to get a better pick on the objectives?

- Squadrons for Superior Possitions. But i guess this is no deal for a ship only list.

- Remove the Raider and add two Gozanti with tools (Slicer Tool, Comms Net, Suppressor). You could use these Gozanti to catch the Dangerous Territory Tokens really fast. If it is working, They give enough to compare a loss of a Gozanti. And the tools force the opponent maybe to take care of these flotilla.
