This concept keeps cropping up and demonstrontes a total lack of understanding as to what the term means. It's like saying
"there is no culture, only behavior", or "there is no economy, only transactions", or "there is no ecology, only animals (and plants)", or "there is no physics, only matter and energy"
The meta isn't something that people consciously create. It isn't an object. It's the some total of what is happening in a given environment. It is literally impossible for there to not be a meta. For there to not be a meta would require that no one ever discuss the game when not playing and for the memories of each game to be erased immediately after the game. And even then there would still be a meta, but no body would be able to analyse it.
So...... what you're saying is, there is a meta, and it's composed of T-65s?
You are the prime example of someone who does not understand what the word "meta" means.
Metagaming = knowing what will be the common lists and bringing something to counter them.
Apologies. I thought it would be obvious that post was made in jest.

It's really easy to "backtrack" and say it was said in sarcasm when someone rebutts you.
I did well with 2 firesprays and a Z95 once (and awful at the next tourney). Fly what you want, but don't get cocky, kid.

LOL. I understand that not knowing me makes it hard to discern, but seriously look at the post again and tell me it's less likely to be Sarcasm than genuinely stupid. Especially after my first reply

Red Squadron Veteran, R5, IA x4. Veeery scary.
Er... They ain't vets. Red Squadron Veteran costs 26 points clean. These will be Red Squadron T-65s at 23 points a pop and a 1 point droid...
R5 seems a bit underwhelming on an X-Wing, though I suppose if you look at it as a 1-point shield with Integrated Astromech with a bonus ability that may prolong life it's a steal. I may have to look into how many of these I have...
This gives you 96 points total for your list with four PS 4 pilots. There's likely more in the list due to the fact there is little value in a PS bid at PS 4.
Flown well, yeah, it can be scary. There are lists though this will be a very hard uphill battle.

Always be mindful of the present, as the meta is constantly in motion.
Do not trust the dice, as the dice will deceive you.
Use skill you must, but trust your list making instincts.

What about swapping one out for the obligatory Biggs (oBiggsatory) - that way, three of the four get an indirect benefit from R4-D6, plus have their own droids for whatever purpose...
..one could take R2-D6 and soak up the last 2 points on an EPT (Wingman? to help out Biggs?) , or take a 1pt EPT and let one ship take a 2pt droid (
well, hello there lil' R3 droid -
).
(I'd be tempted to give each one a different droid, just for the variety)

I'm sorely tempted by this one... yeah, I got a T-70 in there messing with the theme and not using my 4th T-65 mini but I like Jes Pava's ability. She *might* work. Gets everybody over that jumpmaster PS3 nightmare scenario, a lot of firepower and maneuvering flexibility with having four ships. Jes is going to be having a lot of re-rolls (and obviously the choice target) and Biggs... yeah, well... What does he do again?
26 - Biggs - R4-D6
26 - Jes Pava - (1 pt EPT droid + Adaptability)
24 - Red - (1 pt droid)
24 - Red - (1 pt droid)
Edit: Assumed Integrated Astro on everybody...
Edited by LagJanson...2 points on an EPT (Wingman? to help out Biggs?) , or take a 1pt EPT ...
...Draw Their Fire, in case Biggs has got no shields left, but the R2-D6 ship does.

Exactly, it often amazes me how poorly some people understand this concept, and the OP is clearly one of them.
Meta isn't simply the lists that everyone recognizes as being the best, and beating them with something else doesn't mean you've beat the meta or the meta doesn't exist. It simply means you played well enough to overcome the advantage those lists have.
But the idea there is no meta is simply nonsense. I remember before Armada came out there were posts from people hoping there wouldn't be a meta, but as it was pointed out to them, that's simply impossible.
Even before the days of the internet there was a meta, the mear fact that you had some clue what other people were likely to play and took that into consideration was all that was needed for there to be a meta.
The other thing to bear in mind is that the meta is a general trend rather than an absolute law. People will gravitate to effective lists. The meta is a description of the environment that we play in, that is comprised of other players with whatever they bring to the table. Someone won with X-wings? Sweet. Has it stopped people everywhere spamming palp aces? If not, the meta is intact. Indeed, non-meta lists can win tournaments precisely because they counter the top meta build!
