Defender and Inquisitor List

By rcrowejr1, in X-Wing Squad Lists

HI all - I have not cracked into the new wave yet but have some decent success at the LGS running this list:

Countess Ryad (34) TIE Defender (34), Juke (2), TIE/x7 (-2)

Glaive Squadron Pilot (34) TIE Defender (34), Juke (2), TIE/x7 (-2)

The Inquisitor (31) TIE Advanced Prototype (25), Push the Limit (3), TIE/v1 (1), Autothrusters (2)

Running in a tournament this weekend but I am concerned I have not run this against many of the latest Scum lists such as Dengaroo etc. Any thoughts on my weaknesses here?

That looks pretty solid to me and I think that /x7 Defenders are a pretty good counter to Dengaroo. They have the resilience to withstand Dengar's firepower for a while and the speed to chase Manaroo if the opportunity presents itself. I would be tempted to replace the Glaive with /x7 VI Vess to take advantage of the Inquisitor's Target Locks but if double Juke is working for you so far then you should be OK.

Thanks Karhedron!

There is still a place for Vessery with Juke instead of VI (the list is now at 99 points).

I agree to swap the Glaive pilot with Vessery with x7 and VI. Inquisitor and Vessery are the Super Imperial Bros and I would always recommend using them together when possible.

But why VI? Vessery does not need this PS8 so much. That shift gives him no direct advantages (other than mirror and brobots, but this is minor). Juke means that you have a fully modified attack with mini-crack-shot (hopefully on the same target that OL was shooting to so Juke is more useful). With PS 8 and 6/8 you do not really need the initiative bid...

It gives him no direct advantages but it benefits his squad mates greatly. If Vessery is PS8, he can shoot first. That means that by the time Inky and OL come to shoot, they can spend their target locks if they need to in order to improve their attacks.

Exactly. Whenever I build a list with Vessery that I'm trying to maximize his ability, I want to try and make sure he has the opportunity to shoot first in the squad. I mean it's not likely that Omega Leader will be spending his target lock, but Inquisitor would sure like to if need be. Now if you were building a squad and most of the ships that can and do normally target lock go at the same time or after Vessery without VI, then I won't give him VI.
