Scum Toolbox

By Rolotamasi, in X-Wing Squad Lists

One list I think has a bit of weight in the current meta is the 2 Scouts and Party Bus. High alpha strike, good HP to take a punch or too, and some dice mods on both sides. I was thinking if there was anything out in wave 9 to aid or improve this. This is what I came up with:

Contracted Scout (33)

JumpMaster 5000 (25), Plasma Torpedoes (3), Extra Munitions (2), Overclocked R4 (1), Inertial Dampeners (1), Deadeye (1), Guidance Chips (0)

Old Teroch (30)

Protectorate Starfighter (26), Veteran Instincts (1), Stealth Device (3)

Trandoshan Slaver (36)

YV-666 (29), Zuckuss (1), 4-LOM (1), Dengar (3), Feedback Array (2)

I know some people are going for Fenn but I think the token stealing is really helpful, and SD helps him stay alive longer, hopefully to endgame after alpha striking and ramming the bus down their throats.

Thoughts? Am I far off?

If only Old Teroch had an illicit slot. He would love the cloaking device.

Thrusters on Teroch will keep him alive longer than stealth device. I would go for that. Great idea overall. Let me know how it flies

That is a good idea and would free up another point. Maybe the title on Teroch to keep a 1pt initiative or stay at 98 in case others fly at 99?

I think Old Teroch does fine against the guy he's in range 1 of and just removed tokens from (not TL) so he may only lose 1-2 hull from that. Its the guys behind the guy that he removed tokens from that make him an easy 30pt kill straight off the bat.

By taking Old Teroch, you've also ruined any symmetry you had with your uboats. The strength of the torpedo boat is consistent, modified 4 dice attacks coming all at the same time. Ships just can't deal with that round after round. So one uboat doesn't scare anyone, you can even dodge that successfully with defenders or other token adding ships. 3 uboats are scary, 2 less scary but slaver brings its own pain, 1 uboat, ho-hum weather the storm for a turn or so and your enemy is behind you taking your list apart ship by ship.

Honestly think the fang just overall weakens the list

Flown against a similar variant (two trips + rau; scout bus and Rau) and the fang was just trivially dealt with. It puts out similar damage to the big guys, but sure as hell can't take it

I had a similar thought when the protectorate was first released. What I ended up going with was this:

Fenn Rau: 34

PTL

Title

Autothrusters

Slaver: 34

Zuckuss

4-LOM

Dengar

Contracted Scout: 29

Intelligence Agent

Feedback Array

Anti-Pursuit Lasers

Gives you either a 2 point initiative bid, or lets you put Glitterstim on the Slaver. You could also put R5-P9 on the Bumpmaster and use Black Market Slicer tools instead of Feedback Array.

This was the 'toolbox' I had thought of. The Slaver/Bumpmaster combination is going to give you some tools to fight aces with. Adaptability will allow your Scout to block opposing Jumpmasters and blunt their Alpha strike. Fenn can pounce on tokenless ships that the other ships block. Alas, the list relies really heavily on Fenn surviving to late game, so he'll have to be played with extreme caution.
