Extra weapons or armour?

Is there any extra weapons or Armour sets that I can bring into my game? The base weapons and armour just seem so bland in a universe that has so much to offer. and yes I know you can modify them to make them different, but my players just want more.

There is a ton of stuff in all of the books.

Um, do you only have the Core Rule book? There is a huge library of SW FFG books out now, and they all have new gear and gadgets in them. FFG is not doing a "weapons & armor" book like the other publishers have, so you have to kind of get them all, or Oggdude's Char gen, or other resources.. But each new book has new gear in it.

I'll be a little more descriptive. They want info attached to the weapons in there already ex, heavy blaster would be a DL-44 or DT-12 pistol. They don't want just heavy blaster pistol. Same goes for the armour.

So far I have EotE, AoR, and Strongholds.

For the most part, you can just flavor the weapon or armor to be what the player would like it to be. At least until they come out with specific stats for what they want.

I'll be a little more descriptive. They want info attached to the weapons in there already ex, heavy blaster would be a DL-44 or DT-12 pistol. They don't want just heavy blaster pistol. Same goes for the armour.

So far I have EotE, AoR, and Strongholds.

To a certain extent... that's kinda it. I mean how is a Blastech DL-44 really truly different from a Sorosuub Q-7? Shape and size might be different, but not enough for an in-game mechanical difference. The DL-44 might have a more reliable positron collider... but unless it's dramatically more reliable, again no need for in-game mechanical differences.

If you want more exotic weapons just look to more sourcebooks (or a summery here , though with some key points left out of course).

For reference though, D20 Modern did publish a big book o' guns and it was largely a waste of trees. While some weapons were noticeably different (a heavy machine gun is different from a machine pistol), in most cases comparing one like gun to another there just wasn't enough to justify the expense of the book. I mean yes, an UZI and an MP5 are different, but they are both submachine guns chambered in 9mm with 30 round magazines, short barrels, and collapsable stocks. When you take that and turn it into an actual game stat block you'll be hard pressed to justify having one crit better, or do more damage, or be more accurate...

and that goes triple when you start looking at the EotE game mechanic which is a lot less detailed in most respects....

This is all very true and may actually same me quite a bit of time now if I explain it to them this way. I can probably just find a list of blasters and armour and say the weapon you have is this, it has the stats of this.

That's what I do.

Case in point, whenever my players swipe a stormtrooper blaster rifle, I make note that it specifically is an Imperial issue E-11 blaster rifle. While the stats are 100% identical to any other blaster rifle, the implications of using an E-11 stamped "For Military use only" (or not using one) in certain locals and situations can be far more significant that any numbers adjustment.

The same can extend outward. Encountering a character with DC-15A heavy rifle is going to say that character either has trouble getting modern gear or likes old school weapons. A Arakyd Concussion rifle isn't numerically different than a Stoker Concussion rifle, but one screams "eclectic specialty weapon" and the other says "I bought what the Jawa had in his bargain bin".

I started off my character with a vanilla blaster rifle. But that was too boring. So I looked through Wookieepedia and found the GLX Firelance which had a cool name and appearance but otherwise was just a regular rifle, and didn't appear in any of the sourcebooks with special stats. That was my primary weapon for a long time.

If your players want something special have them do the same. It did help me knowing what gun I had and knowing it wasn't just a generic gun, even if stat-wise it was.

For gear I would recommend, special modifications, lords of nal hutta, dangerous covenants, fly casual, and maybe keeping the peace
