I have been slowing working on buying the Allies & Villains packs. I wanted to pick up Boba Fett this weekend and couldn't find it in stock. Looking on some websites they are listed for $40-$50. Do these packs get discontinued? I would eventually like to have all of them and buy 2 or 3 a month typically. This is the first time I have ever seen where people are inflating the prices like this. Would be a bummer if I couldn't get Boba because I am not paying $50 for a villain pack.

At the Printer.
(Probably around 10 weeks.)
Also, shop around, it is probably a local shortage. At least in the Finnish stores the pack was still available at a normal price when I last checked, probably last week.
Edited by a1bertThanks I never knew that you could look there for reruns also.
This happened earlier this year as well. Boba sky rocketed up in $$ due to demand when he was sold out. Eventually when they got reprinted, they were all in plenty and I saw him as low as $6.

But why does everybody want to buy him, when nobody plays him?

His miniature is cool. I bought two, one for playing and one for collecting. The collecting one hasn't been opened and went into my rubbermade bin with all my other Boba Fett collectable stuff. I'm very sad to hear he isn't played though. They need to errata his card. I'm really mad at FFG for making the cool figs at the beginning so pricey before they realized they'd messed up.

What would a reasonable Deployment Cost for Boba be?
Think he just needs to be able to output a bit more damage, he's crazy durable so it's very difficult to cost him. How do you point a figure that doesn't die?
10 is what I would pay for him, he is about as good as Luke, with worse surges, no buff for his army, a worse personal card, but better speed, mobile and the surge block.
I would get him for 10 or maybe even 11 points. 13 is rediculous, I can get Bossk, Greedo and devious scheme for 13. Or double eNexu and beast tamer, I just don't see a scenario where Boba Fett is ever worth so many points out of my 40 pts list.
Yeah Boba Fett is good at cost 10. 11 with Explosive Armaments is good.

What about Boba in Campaign Mode? 10 as well?
There are a lot of problems with his campaign mode points.
He's really tough compared to practically everything else, so in the very rare mission where he could stand beside an objective and stop the Rebels, he's maybe worth 10. Maybe.
He's super fast... and that has almost no benefit in campaign where in 95% of missions, the Rebels come at you and the Imperials have no objectives to cover.
Unlike skirmish where his dying is surrendering VP, dying in campaign doesn't matter and so his surviveability usually doesn't matter that much. It's his damage that matters. His damage sucks. He's maybe worth 8 for most missions. Maybe.
He has no command card support like in skirmish so you can't boost him. None of the class decks really benefit him more than any other deployment card you could put out.
Once you start getting over 5 or 6 points things in campaign start losing a lot of value because it usually means you had to save up to get them. If you stuck that 6 points on the board in troopers rather than bank it, that's an entire round of shooting you've missed out in damage, meaning those banked points need to really pack a punch when they hit the board or they're a big loss. This is why the Jabba's Realm regular cards, in particular Jet Pack Troopers, are great for campaign, probably better than the elites, but pretty worthless in skirmish where only the elites will see play.
Basically for campaign he's an elite probe droid with extra health and defense and useless extra speed, plus a minor ability. The times we've had him on the board the Rebels just killed everything around him and ignored him.
So I could MAYBE see playing him at 8. I'd be thinking I'd rather save a point and take Trandoshans whose bleed is far more valuable for Imperials in campaign than Boba's weaken or spend the extra point on eStorm with a good attachment card that benefits all 3 figures like Combat Vets and just do lots of damage.
But here's a further complication... The new class deck with Jabba's Realm could bring his cost down to 8 in the finale and make him practically impossible to kill. That deck makes him a very solid choice for the villain in the last few missions of a campaign. If his normal cost was 8 then that deck would bring him down to a mere 3 for the finale or 5 mid game... which is probably too good!

It seems like the new class deck is trying to solve a lot of the problems you mentioned. And who knows what other cards are in it? I expect it will fix a lot of the issues with villains in campaign, and that trying to use it in combination with any other re-balancing system will cause major balance issues.
This is why any point reduction we are talking about, should primarily be for skirmish only.
Personally I like Boba Fett at 13 pts in Campaign, I dont think its THAT bad. 10 would be ideal. But as stated too, all the class decks up to this pt have primarily been focused on Imperial style of play. Jabbas Realm will introduce a complete focus of Mercs and as the "Imperial Player" can now be the "Mercenary Player." This might even give the ability to divide up the Imperial Player into 2 players (for those that have 6 total players) and 1 person controls the Imp characters and 1 person controls the Merc characters.
