They already have some fairly solid large bases ship options, and they have some strong point sink aces, but I feel they lack something like Fel, powerful, but still a capable dodger at fairly low cost. The only Rebel ships that meat that niche seem to be the A-Wings, which lack consistent firepower. If E-Wings were cheap they might take over this role, but they are a point sink. Am I missing a ship or is this the situation?
The rebels need a proper pocket ace I believe.
we're really good on soontir fells atm, imo
We don't need any mirror ships in x-wing. Besides, our Rebels have their ace:
Ep 8 A-wings will be a thing, also every faction don't need to have every option.
I give Tycho credit where credit is due, but Fel outshoots and unless Tycho has VI or is playeyed very well, outmanuevers him every time.
besides, we have a proper pocket "**** your ace"
Warden (ABT, conners, extras; A-Slam and chopper)
33 points of PS 2 glory!
Corran Horn is fine enough with his Boosting and Barrel Rolling and shooting twice.

33 points to have a shot at maybe catching an ace in a bomb... I don't like those odds.

Corran is really strong, and as I said E-Wings would be perfect for this roll, but he does take up a very large amount of the squad. I can never find a comfortable team to fly him with. If Abhat were a 7 he would have a lot more potential.

33 points for one guaranteed (low PS, ace can't dodge him before he activates) and one very likely ace hit for 2 damage + ion + no actions each.
VS aces, odds are always in K-wing's favour. The problem is that it becomes useless against high HP ships.

Good thing for you, they're NOT odds
The conner K is 100% dice independent
So all you have to do, quite objectively, is fly better and it'll always do work
(work = 1 guaranteed damage or 2 with sabine, 2 ion tokens; denied action step)
Seriously, Palp aces are a complete joke next to the warden. Never even lost Biggs to them when you're guaranteed to kill one in two rounds through Palp or arc dodging or anything they can do
Edited by ficklegreendiceI get where the OP is coming from. Where is our equivalent of Omega Leader? For 26 points, the Imps get a decent little ship with PS8 and a great pilot ability. The Rebels don't really have anything in that category. For a similar cost, Scum can field some entertaining options like kamikaze N'Dru with LW, Clusters and Glitterstim.
Of course we have things like Biggs and Stresshogs at that price but Imps have their support ships too. For those points you can get a GSV with EMs and missile or torpedo of choice. Rebels are definitely lacking anything in the Category of Omega Leader or the Inquisitor.
And saying that factions are defined by their omissions as well as their inclusions rather misses the point that Scum and Empire both have a pretty good spread with no obvious holes like the Rebels do.

I never tried it before... Time to fly my K-Wing at last...

To defend other commentors imps lack turrets and as many large base ships. Still they have a few options at least.

It's the combination of several things that make Fel as obnoxious as he is.
1) Native boost so he can take AT
2) Double mod slot so he can take SD and AT
3) Native BR so he can Boost + BR without extra point sink
4) His personal ability ensuring he always has a modifier even if he Bst + BR
5) Native Pilot Skill 9
6) Palpatine
7) 3 Attack Power
8) 3 Hull - so he's not auto dead to PB/Wampa/BMST
9) Green Turn so he can shed stress effectively
10) Open EPT slot so he can PTL
The only other pilots that come close to this are Inquistor and perhaps Jax/Turr. But they all fall short on the PS9, the extra modifier, and Inq misses the 3 hull mark and the SD (and technically the 3 attack dice, but his ability mostly makes up for it).
If you look at Rebels, there's nothing that comes remotely close to fulfilling these requirements. An A wing hits 4 of these marks (Bst for AT, Green Turn, Open EPT for PTL, VI gives PS9/10), the E wing hits 4.5 of them (BR, I'll give them FCS = always mod, 3 attack power, EPT/PS9 (depending on if you take VI vs. PTL), and half a point for green turns because R2D2 is probably a better use of the droid slot but it's capable of getting the greens).
So while the E wing / A wing might have things that Fel doesn't have, they still only have half of the things that make Fel Fel. So while Corran's double tap is awesome in its own right, and R2D2 gives them regenerating shields, they will never be masters of the arc dodging dance.
2) Native boost so he can take AT
Rebel omega/inqy is Regen ships
They're more expensive and currently out of vogue as of VERY RECENTLY (lest we forget, TWO POES and a corran in the top two of last worlds)
But the value (re)generated by the combination of pilot/droid is disgusting if allowed into the late game
In the cheaper bracket, yeah we have stressY and Biggs. Doesn't matter what the empire has, these guys are UNIQUE to the rebel faction
And, funnily enough, having unique things is what makes the factions...factions

If there's one ship that's genuinely not worth running as long as Slicer Tools exist, it's Tycho.
*edit* ninja'd
Edited by SekacIsnt the reason for it more thematic? The three faction all have strength and weaknesses that set them a part. If you want fast light nimble dodgie and cheep fly Imperial. If you want durability, regain and general tankieness fly Rebel. If you want jack of all trades and dirty tricks fly Scum.
if rebels get a proper "pocket ace" then imperials need a proper turret ship.
Why do the Rebels need a Soontir Fel equivalent? Couldn't you just run actual Soontir Fel?

What's the VT-49?

If you want to spam TLT just play Rebel or Scum.

I gotta agree with ficklegreendice here. The whole point of seperate factions is that they have different strengths and therefore play differently. They like to blur the lines a little(Sabine's Tie, Scum Y's and Z's) but if they do it too much, the factions will lose definition. The differences SHOULD be defining, not minor nuance and pilot names.
