Tycho Celchu and Jake Farrel represent the best Rebel arc-dodgers, yet neither of them seem to see very much play, at least not that I have seen. Is there any place left for these two ships besides my noncompetetive lists?
Any place but just for fun?
In the current meta, two red dice just isn't enough. A Defender with a focus and free evade negates them easily, killing a large base ship with them would be a chore, and tonight I met the protectorate fighter for the first time and... dear god. The a-wings are manoeuvrable and survivable, but not aggressive enough.
^ this.
Jake still see play though. A bit of a monster at PS9 and prockets
Agreed. Proton Rockets give you one turn of "what the!!!" but after that an ace A-wing is reduced to pecking ineffectually at most targets. It's essentially the same problem the TIE Advanced had, before the Raider expansion came out.
It's a shame.
Multiple Generic A-Wings still have a home in Epic Play.
Too bad the refit takes the missile slot! It makes for nice blockers with the prototype pilot for sure, but I always shy away from taking an a wing with prockets because it's just too much for a one shot ship. I do enjoy using them though, with that sweet dial and action bar.
Against a lot of rebel lists they can do fine. I have a friend who owns/plays mostly early wave rebel stuff like b wings and I make a point to break out the a wings for those games.
